BOM says likely to move west early in the new week, latest GFS pushes it into SE GOC coast, sadly a weak low/trough in the coral sea stops any decent convergence along the east coast from the lows inflow.

So taking my colour blindness into account the pressure anomily adjacent to seq is around .5 to 1 hpa above normal. Doesn't seem like a lot. (To the novice) Also appears to Shadow the great divide perfectly. Just some observations.

Thanks for the comprehensive responses. Statistics released yesterday show the last 4 or 5 years have been the hottest ever. Could higher land mass temps have a bearing on the passage, position or stalling of high pressure. Thanks

Marangaroo - I stayed there on a snow chase in 2015. Where I was staying near the Great Western Highway was 930m above sea level, which would be typical for the area.

Hanging around 35-37C here, more or less stock standard hot days here in summer, as opposed to a heatwave per se. Driving from Singleton, through Branxton-Greta and Lochinvar, temp hovered around 36C-37C.

The relationship between dewpoint and moisture content of the air gets very non-linear at low levels, so there isn't actually a huge difference in the moisture content between a dewpoint of -5 and one of -20.
