Sent you a PM Adon.. Meanwhile, how good does the equatorial cool tongue look now. More importantly the warmer than average warm pool east of PNG which seems to have a negative impact on Australia's east coast when it is a couple of degrees warmer

It could have something to do with the polar jet stream in the Southern Hemisphere, the map that Mike posted seems to indicate a northward shift of the jet stream in the Tasman Sea which is sending huge storms into New Zealand.
