A cyclone is a system of winds rotating inwards to an area of low barometric pressure so not all low pressure areas are cyclones. And anticyclones are highs pressure areas with winds rotating away from the centre.

Wow. Getting smashed right now. Cyclonic would be the word. Lightning, thunder and heavy rain. I have a 4m deep deck and the rain is hitting halfway up the kitchen window. Talk about sideways.

Non stop thunder but not much rain atm. Had some earlier, after last empty. Would be thrilled to get 10mm for this episode to keep things green till the deluge maybe later this week.
