in all fairness, Hify wasn't sure as well and would've had about the same view of it as Erasmus.

Haddin has to go. He couldn't catch a cold atm. Looks very very lousy behind the stumps, and given his non-performance with the bat it should be done after this test. But I doubt the selectors will have the foresight to try and put Wade in as a replacement.

Well it's over with Australia winning by an innings and 68 runs. The next test in Perth will be interesting selection wise.... You would think Harris will come in, maybe for Lyon (although I hate to go into a test without a dedicated spinner, I think Clarke & Hussey could handle the small amount of bowling needed in Perth). Sounds like Watson might also be an outside chance? If he plays, you get the extra bowler as well.... Would prob mean Cowan goes? Haddin should go for Wade, but I think he might be given another test or 2 yet?

Can't see why you would change the team at all. 2 wins from 2 tests means all those players are on a high and a positive demeanor often means as much as form. We don't need Harris as our three main spearheads are bowling well(very well). Lyon has not had suitable conditions to do well but should be kept in the side in case we wind up nneeding wickets on the last day. Even though it's perth a day five pitch should give him something to work with. And as much as I hate to say it, Watson is too much of a liability. We all know he will get injured again and if we keep dropping young top order batsmen because of a couple of failures(most of which happend at the same time as the experienced heads were going cheaply as well I might add) then you will nnever build confidence in them. All this will lead to is a constant turnover with nobody settling in. We are 2 nil up ina four test series. Leave things alone.

I agree with you all of the above. I'm just suggesting what I think the selectors would do. I just don't think they will leave out our best bowler on a Perth pitch....

i could not agree more, but s watson needs to get back in the game and play himself back into form without putting anymore pressure on his body, if he was more sound with his injuries he may well could captain australia(i know its a big call) if pup was injured or not available, watson is a bloody good allrounder but we need batsmen at the moment more then what we need strike bowlers, we have a pretty decent pool there to use at our disposal at the moment! just remember we are going to perth next test and brett lee is still available but will not get considered because he hasn't played for so long! thats how much depth we are getting again!!! would still love to see brett lee storm in on a perth pitch

Well after all that it wont matter now.... Pattinson is now injured! http://www.espncricinfo.com/australia-v-india-2011/content/current/story/548293.htmlI see he was going to be rested from the test anyway! Harris will replace him directly into the 11, with Starc re-selected to either be 12th man or play instead of Lyon I guess...

Was about to say WHAAT to Thunderstruck until I saw teckerts post, thank god we have the depth to cover him, he'll be sorely missed though.

I am glad Clark declared when he did. And secondly, becauuse I don't think any australian captain should ever score more than Bradmans highest test score. And I think Clark Believes this as well. It is a sign of respect
What a ridiculous statement. Not even Bradman himself would expect that of any Australian captain. Homer

Why the hell is Starc even getting a look in. Lousier bowler than Copeland. Didn't work the first time, certainly won't work now.
What the hell is with these young players feet? Seems to me that there is a serious problem there.
I hope Watson never gets recalled, he is an injury liability and an arrogant SOAB. Not needed, or if at all in the lower order...maybe he can keep....then his drops wouldn't look so bad.
Hoping there will be little change to the lineup for the WACA, Harris to Replace Pattinson. And dreaming of Wade for Haddin. Need some continuity, but fix that weakness.

I think the people talking about Starc for the WACA are thinking of his height, but Harris is proven to bowl well there.

Time to inject a little non-international action. Having an alright season coming back from a hernia repair back in early 2010. Took last season off to allow myself to recover and instead of hanging up the boots came back to bowl quick (Dougie Walters style - Read you should look like a quick bowler) again..as I have most of my 13 prior seasons. Took the opportunity to change to my third club in as many seasons (left astro turf for district, left district for high quality turf due to time issues).
Of course, one of the fun things about a new club is finding your place. Started off playing in the 4th XI with the new pill, only to find ridiculous economy rates and batsmen unable to lay bat on me (my economy rate in that grade is still about 1). Got promoted for god knows why and tossed the new ball in each match, little success at first but have managed a couple of decent bags, including a 4/12 (including 4/1 in 13 balls), and seem to be a pretty strong certainty in the lineup heading for finals. Overall stats: 10 wickets @15.4, Eco 2.95. With the bat...haven't had much a chance (and its rather amusing) have gone from a opening bat/bowl a couple of seasons back to a steady number 11 who gets a fair bit of red ink. 35 runs @ 7 overall, best of 19 searching for quick runs. Had one chance to open in the 4s but was left to burn on a run out.
Last weekend yielded a nice frustrating couple of figure sets, we rolled the opposition in a one-dayer for 42...opened up and got yanked off after 4 overs 1/7 with a couple of drops, (my opening partner and I had them at 5/10). Chased them down, then went for the rather unusual one day outright that can be done in this comp, second innings, second change, 4 overs 1/7 with a couple of drops. Clearly I was only meant to get one wicket against these guys!
Anyway, teams and club looking good, 4/5 teams are sitting pretty for finals, my side running 4th.

I was playing A grade last season for a cricket club up here in townsville but after 7 seasons i gave it away. I still go to the nets a few days a week and love watching the cricket on tv, but just cant find the energy to sit in the NQ sun with 34C and 60% heat.
