I'm sure you'll enjoy the forum Hinezy - we can be a very entertaining lot, especially when we are all desperate to see a little rain or a storm.. smile

QCS done and dusted, had a BBQ on the strand to celebrate. Very windy and quite cold right on the headland and the sea is pretty rough.

Have jsut checked my rainfall fugures for the last 12 months. I have recorded 3801mm, Aug 31 2010, til 9am this morning. Thats a big total, but considering we had our wettest "crushing season" on record, its not suprising.

My most memorable storm season...I'd have to go with Trav. 2008,in the lead up to the big wet of 2008. The day after my 21st saw a massive storm come through the area, tore a roof off one hous in the Long Pocket area, and the marquee we had up also took off. Also in 2001, while at High Scool, a storm that hung around all day finally hit town. I was watching the lightning while waing for the bus in the morning. I had never seen so much lightning that early in the day. Later in the day we were in the school hall, and lighting hit a tree about 10m from where we were. The loudest bang ever. The storm then continued for about an hour, wind and lightning everywhere, and no power. I also remember as a young kid a hail storm at my grandparents also at Long Pocket.

2008 was best year for entire east coast of Australia. Including those violent supercells down the seqld and nensw. Such events include The Gap and NR most supercells reported in one day breaking record.

So 2008 remains as a best year for all of us.

I also remember some intense thunderstorms back in 2002/2003 as a young fella. Hail in rassmussen and lots of wind damage and very lightning active thunderstorms that year smile

Nice convection was building yesterday afternoon and relativly close to the coast, looked to be around 50kms inland or so. Lots of lower level moisture in the air mixed with forced uplift on the ranges aided in the development of some convective showers, only if there wasnt a massive dry slot that the clouds could break through frown Classic early september like day yesterday with the developing showers collapsing on themselves as they "dried"out.

Yeah didn't bother releasing a convective outlook yesterday. Nil chance of storms atmosphere was too dry and stable above 700Hpa.

That's it for storms now. We should get afw showers developing this weekend and then after that we're in for at least another 10 days or so of typical dry September weather. Might see another convective day or two later in the month before October's build up.

Speaking of mins. Now that our mins are up around the 20 mark and I am finally feeling human again, I shudder to think that where I am headed soon still has an average min of 11 for Sept...

Why do people manage to crash or kill themselves on that bit of road. It's like 40knhr speed limit for the whole range!

Yea, I can't find any information on what actually happened. Doesn't appear to be any news stories out on it yet either.
