Big increase not reflective of true run-off - appears day to day updates not accurate and depends on availability of water corporation workers at the various dams to provide estimate of water volume.

At least the dams are increasing but we need good rainfall next two months to continue good runoff.

What a joke the WA state government should have left the sprinkler ban in place for September.

Its raining and people have turned on their retic. Just a waste of our precious resource.

Why the hell are people turning on their retic? confused Perth had its wettest winter in 8 years! These healthy rains are going to continue well into October. The lawns, particularly down here are looking very green and as you said people will waste what water we've got. Sick of people and their careless attitude to the environment. mad

Anyways the inflow continues and the dams should be boosted even further tomorrow. smile

Dams are now closing in on where they were this time last yr. Bout this time last yr dams were @ around 34.5% They now stand @ 31.9 % and climbing so we need 20 gl more of inflow to match last yr.

Re sprinklers, there is so much sub soil moisture that nobody needs to use sprinklers yet and the ban shoould stay until October.
Re dam levels the reason they are still relatively low, even though we have had the wettest winter in 8 years is because last year was so dry that it took alot more rain than usual to soak the soil before we got runoff.
There will be a decent wet period from 18-22nd of this month which should give them a bit more of a boost. With what I predict will be a relatively wet summer, the dam levels should maintain current levels over the summer and get to well over 50% by the end of next winter. If we manage our water use well.

I totally agree! There is so much moisture in the cold mornings in sep that there is no need to water! And if you are desperate save your water in the shower and use that

Perth is doing so well this yr in terms of rainfall and inflow into our dams.
Currently Perth has recorded 147.2mm more rain this yr than last yr, We havn't recorded over 600mm of rain in a yr since 2008(Ended up with 804mm). Perth currenty stands @ 650.6mm so far this yr and rainfall averages for oct,nov and dec add up to around 90mm so if we can get that then we are heading towards beating 2008's rainfall.
And inflow into dams has smashed last yrs total or around 10gl and currently standing @ 61.9 gl for the yr!( 1 yr goes from may - april)so we have a way to go yet. Perth is about 80gl away from the post 1975 average inflows. And get this, Perth is 220gl away from pre1975 average inflow levels!!!

Perth dam levels are now 32.9%. I wouldn't betting (if we get consistent spring rains, which appears very likely) that dam levels could got as high as 40% by the end of spring!
