I'm planning to get a Canon 550D soon and have been looking at polarizing filters on the net and noticed that eGlobal has also got the Marumi brand of filters, which is cheaper than Hoya (http://www.eglobaldigitalcameras.com.au/lens-filters/cpl-filters.html#1). So I have had a little bit of a look into it and found this site that has a test with a lot of polarizing filters - http://www.lenstip.com/115.1-article-Polarizing_filters_test_Introduction.html
It has the Marumi DHG Super Circular filter as number one, so it might be a good idea for anyone interested in a polarizer to have a little look into it. There were also quite a few forums that had questions about Marumi polarizers and the reviews were good.
I'm not a professional photographer, however. So some might have differing opinions about that brand.

I ended up buying the Canon 550D from Kogan, thanks for the suggestion Lindsay smile It was a bit slower at arriving than expected but there aren't any problems with it so far and it still arrived on time for my birthday. Looking forward to taking some great photos grin

Just bought a Nikon D5100 with 18 to 105 lens, 8Gb Lexar Professional 133X SD Card, extra battery, UV lens cap, 3 year warranty and case from Joyce Mayne for $1518.00. They are having a 40% off sale this weekend.

Our first real digital slr after a couple of Fuji Finepxs. Now the learning begins.

Geez there is some competition going in the consumer DSLR market at the moment! I'm basing this on what I have seen from Teds but they are slahing the prices of cameras bigtime. I bought my 550D a little over 2 months ago which retailed at $900 but i got for $850. They now have the base price at $750. I think this is to combat Nikons earlier slashing, there d5100's I've seen the twin kit for $1250. A 1100D atm is going for $500. Some bargains to be had it seems. Wish I waited just a tad longer now but having the money rather than the camera for 2 months defeats the purpose.

I might also add the pentax 645D. a 40MP 44x33mm sensor. geez
