Back from a cooks tour. Yarra River at Fitzsimons Lane and at Warrandyte are running nice and hig. Nothing concerning, just really good to see the old girl getting a good flush before summer.
Smaller creeks are very high, especially around Main Road Eltham, and near the Eltham Leisure Centre. Brougham Street Eltham is closed at the bridge due to flood waters lapping over the bridge. Would have been a bit hairy overnight crossing it at it's peak. Glad they upgraded it as it was a single lane, wooden, rickety old thing.
Quite a few tree branches down due to the saturation and then strong winds last night.

What a system. It looked awesome on the radar and satpic. Not sure on rain totals here in Paky as I haven't put up a rain gauge in our new house and only put my weather station up about 2 weeks ago. We had a couple of fairly heavy showers but I don't think totals would be very high out here. Thanks for all the reports that everyone has posted. Bring on the next one. Although I am over the weekend rain.

The rain that arrived here late last night tallied 7mm in my gauge - but very strong winds with it may have produced a low reading because my gauge is too close to a tree to the W. Anyhow right or wrong I tallied an old fashioned inch for this event, very entertaining. Baro has jumped from 998 to 1009 hPa overnight so the wind here should abate in an hour or so. In the wash up, this event belonged to Melbourne/Geelong - those wraparound infeed bands into cut-off lows can create big tallies as they tilt and stream over any particular location. Now to the Wednesday wet cold change - will we get thunder ahead of the rain!!??

6mm to start the system off on Friday, followed by a whopping 52.5mm yesterday. Great drop!! Up with some of the higher daily rainfall totals I've had since my records began in 2006.
977.25 YTD, which is more than last year already (thanks Yasi!!)

Anyhow right or wrong I tallied an old fashioned inch for this event, very entertaining. Another 11mm here in Sale overnight, which was a staggering difference to the 2mm that was recorded at the East Sale AWS just a couple of Km away to the north east!!! Rain periods started around 10pm last night, with another wave in the early hours that appear to have missed the AWS gauge judging by the observations resulting in the discrepancy. Saw a news article on flash flooding in Lakes Entrance last night that lead to the evacuation of a nursing home. They ended up with an isolated fall of 57mm despite a lot of 10-15mm falls in the surrounding area. Must have got parked under one of those thunderstorms last night??? That takes us to 27mm for this event since Friday. Just going through our November tally with Dad, he's recorded 143mm for November here at home (compared to the 118.8mmm at the AWS). Looks like my area down in Camberwell copped a drenching yesterday - 63mm at Gardiner.

52.7mm at 9AM today - event total 59mm, although probably a little bit more since it was still raining/drizzling for an hour or two after 9AM, just have to wait until tomorrow morning to know for certain. Been a bit of a weird day weatherwise lol, started out cold, cloudy and wet, by midday the cloud cover was beginning to break up, and by mid-afernoon it was warm and mostly sunny, with mid-level and high-level cloud moving in as the next system approaches I've been out and about in Melbourne's eastern and southeast suburbs all day, gave me a chance to view and photograph the flooding along and near Dandenong Creek at Kidds Road (Doveton), Heatherton Road (Dandenong North), Stud Road (Rowville), Wellington Road (Mulgrave), Ferntree Gully Road (Scoresby), and High Street Road (Glen Waverley)... was quite impressive

Re the Lakes Entrance rain - I heard a report of 75mm in Lake Tyers and 90mm in Lakes - and the Lake Bunga in between breaking out to sea. Looks like Lakes copped 3 inches at least!!
