That would be so typical of Townsville wouldn't it. Well, hopefully the area of higher accumulated precipitation makes it a little to the east and sits bang on top of the city (though I sorely doubt this would be the case).

Still, I think 10-15mm total.

Cam back from Bilyana this morning, the contract between Bilyana and Brownsville is astonishing! Can clearly see the green to brown line near Frosty Mango..

Meanwhile we are back to fortnightly (at least) mows in Bilyana...The growth is unbelievable.

I think the season locally will arrive abruptly and violently...

So, i'm coming to Townsville for a couple of days as of Thursday! Trust me to leave home just as it's going to rain and chase the only little white patch between Princess Charlotte Bay an Brisbane on the rainfall outlook......lol! I can't wait to see the reaction from the locals if that comes off......should make for some interesting reading on here anyway.

I also had to laugh laugh seeing that rainfall map with the white spot perfectly placed over Townsville. They must be teasing you guys, how can rain avoid one tinny spot? Apart from the Townsville Rain Force Field...

those maps chop and change with each model run, with trough systems and the like creating thunderstorms, not unsual to get isolated areas of heavier rainfall on the charts, obviously with storms you can be anywhere and get isolated heavy falls. just have to be lucky.
looking at the latest model runs just now, im certainly not as confident as i was 24hours ago, basically looking at the rainband staying inland and not reaching the coast at all now. still doesnt mean there wont be showers and storms about over the weekend before the trough moves off the coast.

Strange shapes in the sky, sort of flat on the bottom and puffy on top, a bit grey coloured in the middle but mostly white too but way out past Harvery's Range by the looks of them. I doubt that they are dangerous or anything like that - just not too sure what they could be. I hestitate to use the C word because with the new radar we shouldn't be seeing and clouds ????? oh bugger I said it, crap thats torn it now, because the radar can't atually see Townsville from where it is at the moment.

Now now guys, let's stay positive here!

The white spot on Townsville is called a white out, meaning very very heavy rain, so heavy that you won't be able to see your neighbors house or the car in front of you! Simple explanation! That's all that's needed here! smirk

well if it makes you guys feel any better, the same model is now forecasting between 5 and 10mm for us over the next week!
but sadly, like i mentioned earlier its looking less likely the rainband will even make it to the coast. and i cant see anything past this system on the models atm.

not unsual for us to have a very quiet lead into xmas until the wet starts proper. might be another of those years.

Looks like we are going to be back into our normal wet this year that i have grown up with in Townsville, where the only time we will see any decent rain will be off a close low or cyclone. How much longer could we expect to see the good wets of the last three or four years.

Does not sound real good but could someone tell me the last time in our area that our good wets have lasted more than the above

Look you can see Rasmussen, It's just to the left middle of Adam's photo.

Yes we have indeed had a damn good run of wet seasons and finally I think it has run it's course and a return to teh 400mm wet seasons of old looks like it could be on the cards for us. I bloody hope not but if it happens i wouldn't be suprised. Sob. cry
