Another 23.7mm from the first emptying so 35.2mm for the evening just a great result. 10 minutes after my post above had some of the heaviest rain I have experienced in recent times (since Feb 4), thunder continuing until I fell asleep around 150am. So it was two hours of thunder and lightning as well as earlier evening storm. GREAT!
Wow...we got hammered last night with 38mls of rain and a beautiful lightning show. Rain was 'sheeting' off the decking roof. Stayed awake to watch it all.
At about that time though, a petrol tanker blew up at a petrol station near here. The poor driver (filling a petrol station) was hurt - hope he'll be ok. Could electrical activity in the 'air' cause such an accident to occur?

35mm for me yesterday (up to 9am), most falling between about 8pm and 2am. Some very close flangs as the storm came through between 12:15 and 1:30am...took me by surprise! I saw the development out west on the radar/tracker as I went to bed, but didn't think they'd intensify as they did! Good fun!

16C currently!
EDIT: Finally passed 1000mm for the year!!!
i was really surprised to be honest. i checked radar before bed also and the storm just looked yellow and i though "oh its ok just full of rain" didnt really expect the constant onslaught of thunder and lightning for the hour or so. was pretty crazy down here in mordialloc

I'm in Carrum , and about 2.30-1.00 am , we had THE Largest /Loudest Thunder i have ever Heard /Felt . I was sound asleep on the Couch , and " BANG " then the Whole house Shook with a short rolling end . Was quite disturbing , was like a bomb going off " I've heard a few bombs in my time " ...... but this was Huge .

I'm in Frankston North, I'd already gone inside once due to a CG that was a bit close (About 100m), but I'd come back out because it was an epic show.
The loud one you would have heard was a positive CG which struck somewhere near here. The only way I can describe it, it was like the sun coming out for half a second, had I been standing the thunder would have knocked me off my feet.. Everything shook for a good 20-30 seconds.. I wish I knew exactly where it hit, I'm sure I'd find a nice big hole

Nothing Flash and rather boring. I didn't have my video camera with me so I took a few pics before using the camera as a video and its the first time that I have really used it for video so you don't see the best part of the storm which was happening while I was taking photos. I was trying to make it into time lapse but it wont play the game in Sony Vegas Pro 10.
