Great pics and report Ruckle. And to everyone who has posted thanks for contributing throughout the day. Well we had our ASWA BBQ today and all eyes were on the skies and the iphones ( radar)as there were storms popping up to the west of the city and also to the n/w. So after having the quickest BBQ in history we all went our separate ways. Most people were talking west but I wanted to stay in clear air so I headed Nth. On the way up the Hume I could see massive cells in the distance up around the border. (Albury way) After filling up with gas at one of the Hume BP servos I checked the radar and it showed some activity heading towards Seymour so I picked that area to get to and sit it out and see what would happen. Just out of Seymour on the road to the Army Base I parked on the side of the road and waited to see what would happen. Timed it to perfection as within 5 minutes the cell started to get going. It built looked brilliant, with some awesome lowerings, dropped a few CG's and started to die. All this in about 15 mins. Here's some pics and I will try and get some video footage up tomorrow.

Where exactly ? I am watching this building near Daylesford... Radar is stuffed for me, saying it's light where as its quite heavy. Caulfield. Anyway quite strange how the Daylesford cell is moving NW to SE buy all the rest of the activity is going SW to NE.

Nice one, Loo! You're not wrong about the shortest BBQ in history LOL!
Max temp of 34.1C today. Great looking towers in several directions over a lot of today...except mine. As with most Saturday's, a busy day and unable to chase, but enjoyed watching whilst taxi-ing children around! Finally my first flash and distant rumble at about 10:10pm. Nice drop of rain too...will check in the morning!

Nice photo's Ruckle and Lindsay. I think it is time I invested in a decent lens for my cannon. Only really took photo of kids etc until of late. I can hear very distant rumbles, noticed next line of storms is near Tatura, although looks like the lightening may be dying off. I guess I will not be seeing the eclipse tonight. I Will sit up for another hour, hoping to get a bit of a light show, but thinking it will most likely die before it reaches here.
I havent heard if this next band is nasty or not. The one this afternoon was very tame with winds etc, conidering the amount of rain it dumped.

Bits and pieces all over the place. I thought someone once told me that when the squares are small and compact on radar the rainfall can be quite intense, but short in duration. I could have that wrong, because I am finding the radar hard to keep up with tonight. I would have thought we should have been getting some thunder and rainfall about now.

I know what you mean Ruckle. I am writing emails and doing a few things and each time I go back to the weather those cells are redder ! I can hear some rumbles, and expect something soon judging by that lot near Melton, but it seems to be moving very quickly. Little cells everywhere to the west! I'll never get to bed at this rate.

Just went outside. The moon is so bright that I can see the clouds rolling in, heard a faint rumbling but I think the storm heading hear is nearly on its way out. Ten minutes until the eclipse starts. Happy to sacrifice that for a storm but have a feeling we might only get rain, then I will get grumpy if I get teased by both and dont see either lightening or the eclipse. Time to make a cuppa and head outside to see what is happening.

After watching distant regular lightning for the last 10 minutes we just a prolonged bit of wheelie bin thunder. radar looking pretty red, could be rather wet soon.

Had a positive strike about 400m away a little while ago.. I have never felt or heard thunder like that before, scared the living daylight out of me (I was sitting outside)

Got a CG , what, must've been just a few houses down, power went out, scary stuff. Got around 22-24mm in the end. Tried checking my iphone, misclicked on 6 minute rainfalls and then it died on me, that was frustrating.
