They are all wonderful pics, and Curiouser, much as I love the storm and lightening shots, your beautiful sunsets, ans SCHUMMY's a few posts back, make a peaceful contrast and remind me how varied our Aussie weather is.

bloody nora Jason spanking shots! love the second one, check out those darn leaders reaching out to the right of the rh bolt..Just imagine standing in that region and the amount of static pre arc!!! i copped one of those leaders years back and it still haunts me today.

woweee jason, you should be proud of those corkers mate - really hard to choose a fav, but i guess just because of the sheer closeness of the second shot, i'd lean towards that one. But damn, they are great!

I only managed to pull off one okay shot from just south of Canberra on Wed evening, with a strike hitting the side of Tinderry Mountain Range. All the other shots i took were out of focus - i just wasn't on my game, i can't remember the last time i struggled hitting infinity..... must have been the fact that i've had such a storm drought. Oh well, at least i came away with one.

Still a brilliant shot - I just love the mountains all visible !

That's an absolute corker Greg, would be happy with that. Big fan of shots of bolts hitting mountains. Jasons and Steves shots are also superb as is that awesome storm Tim. Kinda feel bad putting these up here, but here is what this part of the world has had to offer last weekend.

A storm that came through Melbourne 10/11/2011 while I was there for work.

NO, my lightning shots dont come close to yours Jason and Greg. You've both taken some excellent shots.Well done!!!

Went down to one of the jetties at Belmont, to take a photo of the sunset (different image sizes can be viewed on flickr by clicking the image).

wow severely tall, you were in the right place to chase that storm. So branchy...I can imagine the elation when you got that shot lol. Perhaps I would have heard you if it wasnt for the 100 kmph winds...so was that on the condoblin parkes road or the road between forbes and parkes? Just trying to understand where the hail fell as well...

At this point the power lines above me were regularly crackling and fizzing so with discretion being the better part of valor I decided a hasty retreat was in order.

BTW, the exposures above were between 10 and 30s. The photo with 5 CGs was a 20s exposure!

A rural landscape being peppered by lightning is always good to see, great stuff Will and John, closer to home this rain curtain at the leading edge of the
storm that passed through western sydney last sunday at midday as it crossed the Hawkesbury at Brooklyn. Cheers,Con.
