Yes David, it all looks primed again. These troughs/fronts are becoming weekly events. I love it. Could see another 50-75 mm's for Sydney. I haven't had to water for weeks now. Homer

My impression of the models seem to be having the bulk of rain further west of Bx, given that's prime wheat belt country I suspect not many people out there will be happy. But with these sort of events it's hard to predict who will or won't get solid falls. In the last event, Monday the official Bx rain was 2 or 3 mm whilst at the airport (the other side of town) it was about 20mm. Imagine trying to forecast that.

It's nice to see the official models coming on board. I have been eyeing our warm-up plus the moisture as meaning nice storms. plenty of moist easterly air over us by now, it's been blowing for days. Add warmer temperatures and some useful instability arriving from the west, and we should have some worthwhile weather.
Rain would be good too, we just haven't had as much as some areas, any fine day you can see dust going up.

See a similar band of storms/showers over the Namadgi/Brindies area to yesterday, slowly marching towards Canberra. Prob stop over the ranges too like yesterday. Sky here gone all moderately puffy. Trying to pretend it's gunna grow into storm cells - but I'm not convinced.

That SW line yesterday that petered out to nothing was just practising, today it is coming in for sure. All the horizon south of CBR airport is a curtain of white. We didn't get much heating today, at all, so shall rely on the instability but I suspect it'll be mainly wetness.
Current stuff seems to be approaching up the Murrumbidgee/Monaro valley, from my seat here I can see Gingera and Franklin very clearly, but the hills of Jerra and Burra are obliterated.

Very very light rain started up about 1/2 an hour ago... we got some warming this afternoon, and humidity, but I'm not sure that line will have power when it gets to us. Hope it does, a flash-bang opera would be nice tonight.
Meanwhile Opticast is going bananas saying we'll have rain (not showers) all tonight. It would be nice if it was right, but I can't see it.

Had a solid burst of rain about 6 am this morning in Bathurst - no real sparkage. I thought we'd get some yesterday evening the way it was looking but nothing really happened apart from a couple of light spitty events. Looks black to our west and is quite dark here atm but radar not showing much (although radar pretty ordinary for much west of here.

No storms, pretty-much as expected. Had showers on and off in the evening and at times through the night, but it really got going early this morning. You can see it clearing off over the coast on the radar. It's actually still going here, really quite heavy at times.

I am not particularly excited about today. I strikes me as more of a thundery rain kind of day than a true storm day. Sun is starting to shine here (Kiama) but another band of light rain is approaching. Bit depressing really, maybe too early to dismiss just yet but I don't like what I see. Saturated mid/upper levels, poor mid-level lapse rates, more than likely sub-1000 J/kg CAPE.

Storms now going well on the SWS/SW CTs. Whether they make it to the coast is another story. Today is a lot cooler than I expected also, things could warm up nicely though with a touch of sun. Cloud mass starting to break up, so this is a distinct possibility especially near the coast.

Looking like a nice organised storm headed east near Nyngan, the long anvil trail is a fairly good tell as is the Sat pic of a discrete storm. All out on its own, moving into a reasonable environment. Would be a nice cell to chase (damn shame it didn't wait a week until I was up near there).
Looks fairly messy down in the Southern portion towards Yass/Goulburn though, shear isn't very good either.
Edit: last couple of frames seems it has started to turn further, heading NE to miss Nyngan.

Yeah there are quite a few likely supercells inland, one east of Nyngan, one right mover near Coonamble and another possible one S of Coonamble as well. That Coonamble storm is even returning close to sepia on Moree radar, must be very intense. Looking more and more likely all we will get is rain Really could not be bothered making the effort driving out to Coonamble though Got some family out that way shall wait for reports from them!

Yer some sue cells out there for sure. I doubt anyone was chasing unfortunately. It's all over for Canberra for today, Troy managed to intercept the cell to our north, with some intense rain. Moderate flash flooding in Murrumbateman, with half a metre of water flowing across the Barton HWY at one point. Holidays can't come soon enough... bring on the next system, cause i'll be chasing for sure ......

Yeah, I had a beer on the deck and watched the sunset light up the rising clouds and mist to the east. My mountain had a heavy shroud of mountain mist settle on it too. That stuff on the radar is tantalising but I think it's going to either go SE of Canberra, or just crumble. It's doing both, actually. A parting storm would have been nice. Got 18mm from the whole event. Nice, not torrential but useful nevertheless.

Hey David C - looks like we were blessed with similar skies on the Northern Beaches too! IMG_100100 by sixdegreesbelowthehorizon, on Flickr Pretty good to see some storms move into the Basin yesterday evening - even though they were a bit of a mess. It didn't seem to need any heating from the sun? as there was cloud cover all day. looks like storms might happen again this time next week with another trough approaching - we'll wait and see i guess but there really does seem to be a pattern forming...

That is nice DaveM, up in the Eastern Ranges from you yesterday at sunset was also amazing soft orange light against the misty hills with rainbow as well. Finally cracked the big 2-0 today for the first time this month, in fact over 22 now, so by far the warmest day this month. Not quite average yet but pretty close.
