Here's some pics of the storm I chased in Brisbane on the 27th.. I think I got a bit spoilt by the Mackay stuff grin Wasn't really that good a storm this one:

The pics were taken near Beaudesert and when it was near Cleveland. Bit of a bummer this time I only had the 1 storm when I was down frown

Cheers, Mike

Hi there guys

Im doing my shift at the VMR Whitsunday Radio room Cannonvale. Its only 10:30 am and more than 330 boats have registerd with us this morning. The weather is soo ideal that I might head out after my shift. We do live in gods country here in the Whitsundays. When mother nature turns it on like today I wouldnt be surprised that I get to 500 by lunch time. ATM. Seas as smooth as a baby bum. NE @ 5 knots, Tide is almost high. Have a great day friends.

Thx nthqlndr. Just been checking through my records and the latest "new year's rain" or wet day in a new year here was the 11 Jan which happened in 2003. Looking at the forecasts, 2012 might break the record shocked and its a La Nina too crazy

Also, forecasts are indicating tomorrow being the pick of the days to go boating. Very smooth waters so thats where we're heading! Dragging Mrs RR and the offspring out of bed at sparowfart to head out on the boat, probably to Hammo. grin

RR.

Mate about the water condtions. U better get out early, the car park filled up by 9am this morning. Very limited car parking at Abel Point and Shute Harbour. Im heading off from Midge Point via a tractor on Monday. Atleast I dont have to worry about traffic jams on a beach that has 3 klms from north to south. And at low tide its 4ks out.

Currently 31.4C at 3:45pm
Max temp of 33.2C
Max heat index 40.0C (still steadily rising since 3rd Jan)

Made it to Hammo and back today from Shute. It was perfect weather for boating. Even the Bluefin 4.5 skimmed along the top of the water without spilling my coffee at 7am grin Here's a couple of pix showing off the fantastic weather in the Whitsundays.

On top of One Tree Hill

Here's the return trip from Hammo

Interesting news article on the Brisbane channel 7 tonight about an increased interest in the 1893 Brisbane floods which were "twice as big as the 2011 flood". Imagine that! Also, in the Prossy Guardian this week, an article about an ex. Mayor calling for the Prossy Dam to be drained a bit. After reaching 100% and overflowing from Christmas day 2011 for a few weeks, it is currently sitting on 93%. I think he is onto something here. After all we are in a La Nina (a late one) and there is a risk of some severe rainfall during Feb/Mar. Prossy (as well as Mackay and Brisbane) is located on a flood plain. Since the dam was built it has absorbed all major rains so far, but now at 93% there is very little capacity remaining to absorb the next round. What do you think?

Hey BC, forgot to mention the Shute boat ramp was not too busy at all at 7am. I was expecting a great line up - maybe everyone got boating out of their system the couple of days before. I was straight onto the water, but did see a few arrive as we were motoring off. Have a good day out on Monday and don't exaggerate the fish sizes either! smile

Currently 25.1C, 81%rh, 1010.3hPa, winds light from every direction (being at base of mountain).

Natures air conditioning is not working today.

Currently:
32C outside, 33C inside, 38C HI, 34C DP, 64% RH, 1007.3hPa, wind 8km/hr N. I think my weather station is not real good at forecasting it's saying 'precipitation possible within 6 hours'.
