The last day of 2011 has been unremarkable weatherwise. a few scuddy showers a max of 29.5. Its now time to go get a coldy from the fridge and celebrate the end of a dramatic year of weather events around the world.

Looks like a dry end to 2011 for us here in Mackay. Got a short bout of fairy pee this morning, but that looks like it. My total rain for the year is 2103.8mm. Can't wait to see what 2012 brings!

Have a Happy New Year, everybody. cheers

You just might get your wish KC. At the moment it's 26.5 with a nice breeze to keep things a bit cooler. For those who missed it, and I'm sure there are many, the first sunrise for 2012 was beautiful.

Photos were taken from the Telstra Tower lookout at daybreak this morning.

Looks like a quite start to 2012 weather-wise. Very little rain forecasted for next 10 days.

Just posted my December 2011 summary in the CC&W December thread.

Happy New Year everyone! grin bounce grin

No precipitation on the first day of the year here in Beaconsfield, which is the first time since 2006 – our last year below average (Hopefully not an early sign of things to come!) Really looking forward to seeing what eventuates in 2012, though might have to wait a good week or more yet before the ball gets rolling. I’ll stick with my original thoughts of the overall wet season being near or slightly above average. Normally the action heats up around Australia Day, though I think the most eventful period will be around the second half of February from about the 20th onwards. About this time I’m also anticipating a cyclone to affect the Capricorn Coast near Gladstone. Hopefully we get a couple decent downpours this year, because I get the feeling after 2012 we have a few dry years ahead.....

Good morning all. Looks like being another good morning for washing, weeding and wasting time outdoors!
Its currently 24.7 with 76% rh on 1015.5 hpa. Yesterday we reached a max of 31.9 and min of 20.1 which happened at 5am. No more rain other than a passing sprinkle that is not really worth mentioning. So with that I'm off to carrying out the previously mentioned chores.

Yeah guys, great fishing and tourist weather. This is actually an extreme weather event we are having, it is extremely pleasant! But as for weather watching, counting photons is a bit boring.

Here is the wind and wave forecast courtesy of Seabreeze.
