Can anyone advise if the road between Rocky and Emerald is open - I have a mate who is suppose to travel out there tomorrow for work - just looked at the Comet River and it is still on the rise - will he get through tomorrow?

Bureau forecaster Pradeep Singh said the Central Highlands would probably receive the worst of the state's weather.

"They're looking at 100mm plus for Monday, and that will continue on Tuesday and Wednesday," he said.

I hope this article I found tonight is wrong!!! Below is the link for the full article.

The bureau warned the Comet River at Comet Weir was likely to peak above major flood levels around 10m on Tuesday, while the Balonne River was expected to reach a peak of about 10.4m at Surat on Tuesday afternoon.

Found this in the same news article tonight. I wouldnt chance it!

Rainfall totals since 9 am on BOM @ 11.00pm, Duckponds Alert 63mm, and Rileys Crossing Alert 55mm. It isn't inconceivable that certain areas may receive up to 100mm of rain today.

Last tip out for the month gave 5.5mm. Months' total is 129.5mm.

Now major flooding at the Lake which is just downstream from Rolleston in the Comet R; so plenty of water still to come down this system. At least by the weekend we enter a break in the weather which will help ease the situation until the next wet period returns.

Good morning all. Well I have purposly avoided the shops over the last few days but I am now depleted. My question.... has there been panic buying? Is it worth me even going to try and get milk and bread?

Another sharp rise in Retreat Ck also from yesterdays storms. We well and truly have a soaked catchment now.

Morning Lisa; some evidence already of panic buying: no bread at Coles yesterday afternoon and no bread in Clermont yesterday as well...

I was down at Coles this morning, it was pretty quiet and had plenty of bread and milk. I haven't seen much evidence of panic yet.

Yeah it is, came about in 2006 . It is just around the corner from the Causeway Lake and the other corner from Mulambin Beach. It is about 3mins drive south of Rossyln Bay Harbour and I can see the hill at Bluff Point at Capricorn National Park from here. The next suburb after Mulambin would be "The Causeway" and then "Kinka Beach".

It would not have helped that the trucks couldn't get through because the road was closed either MG.
