Hi all, I was wondering if there is going to be a Weatherzone app developed for Windows Phone? It hardly seems fair Android and Apple get all the attention, yet us WP users miss out (there will be more of us when the new generation Nokia smartphones are released - it has been confirmed most, if not all will be running Windows Phone 8). I enjoyed the app on my old iPhone, and would love to have it on my current phone.

Maybe you don't like those phones, but sales of both say most people prefer them. In fact Android phones now outsell iPhones. Being Windows phones are a minority I would say many people like WZ and other companies will not bother spending the time and effort to develop apps for phone operating systems that are not in high usage or high demand. Sorry but its that simple.

Sorry but its that simple. Android outselling iPhones? Now THAT'S good news! Sorry, ex iPhone owner. I know Windows is a lesser used phone OS. No idea why, my brother has had nothing but problems with both his Android phones, and iPhones are ONLY popular as the interface is "pretty", where WP 7.5 is a no bull, "grown up's" phone (as I always put it LOL), written to be faultless and efficient. STILL, people are failing to realise that now Nokia are using Windows Phone on their flagship smartphones, it will soon creep up the ranks. The Lumia 900 (yet to arrive) has a dual core processor- Just because WP doesn't need it, but what the heck. It'll be an android and iPhone killer, from reports I have read. That and I think app makers should cater to everyone, regardless of what phone they have. I'm over the second rate weather app I already have, it has no radar. Had the WZ app on my iPhone, I swore by it. As for companies not bothering- QPS have an official app, as well as I Can Has Cheezburger and Memebase, Google maps (the navigation is powered by Google), Banks are starting to release apps, and telcos are starting to jump on board as well. What I have noticed in the Zune Marketplace is the number of apps appearing (rough guestimate around 30,000 have been developed and redeveloped from Symbian platforms) since Nokia signed a contract with Microsoft. They wouldn't be adding all these apps if it wasn't worth it. What I am saying - don't write off Windows Phone.

Again, hate to be the bearer of bad news, but Nokia are not creeping up any ranks in the smart phone word, in fact, they are teetering on the edge of going bust. Personally I have owned three Android phones now and never had issues with them. My wife had an iPhone, and while the OS is good, the hardware had faults and went back for repairs, and she soon changed that for an android phone. So once again all I can suggest is maybe give Android another go. ICS phones are great. Never tried a windows phone, so can't comment on how good they are. But thy are not selling well, so I would not expect to much support on things like WZ weather apps in the near future. They can't even keep up on the iPhone and Android apps at the moment anyway.

TBH I've never used an Android (apart from a quick play with Mum's Samsung Galaxy S II). So far (and I've had my Windows Phone for about a year now) I have found WP7 to be a very stable and secure platform. It's built to be efficient rather than pretty. Also, if you try to hack or jailbreak it, you're gonna have a bad time... I'll be getting my hands on a HTC HD7 this weekend - Can't wait to see what WP7 is like on updated hardware. I'm surprised they aren't selling well, as when the 7.5 Mango update came out, you could to alot with them that you have to jailbreak an iPhone to do, and you can now use (well, my LG, anyway) them as a wireless internet hub for up to 5 devices. Already been done in this household - I got bored and re-jailbroke my iPhone, so had it and my laptop running the net via the LG.
