Turned out a very nice mild/warm dry day here although a bit breezy. Top of 25.4, very comfortable day to relax where sheltered from the wind. Starting to wonder if this last lot of developing storms near Orange will actually cross my path at all, would be a bit unlucky if they missed completely, but I would believe anything now.

Since it was a full on scud fest in Nowra I decided on a abit of a chase as I was bored. Currently in Oberon. A cell got going just to my south, producing some nice staccatos that hit maybe 3kms away with great thunder. Storm is moving into no mans land now, but is starting to look good. Seen some real tall bolts from it in the last 5minutes or so. Im also hoping for a lightshow tonight, im prepared to settle for an hour sleep before work, if theres lightning available...

Decision time. Do I race north and hope I get a piece of that stuff around Dubbo.Or do I go the Cowra cell, which with plenty of shear, and sunlight ahead of it has every chance of holding in or picking up. (though shear is more linear the further south you go, so the Cowra cell could dissapoint)

Tell me about it dave, every time i duck in to check radar im more annoyed im not up there, a succesful day on the punt followed by severe storms, my punting mate who i was meant to go up with is having a great time judging by texts at regular intervals. "its alright babe, you got to hear some lightning before" from the missus isnt helping! Ps pingtang, you might need to traverse the Goolma Rd again buddy

Yeah, but since im still in Oberon theres no chance of getting it. The storms are travelling at 70km/h, and they are only 80kms from Dunedoo/ Mudgee. They'll beat me unfortunately. So I have to settle for the storm in coming from Cowra.

Well The Cowra one is showing signs of picking up so fingers crossed, but gee I wish I could teleport 150kms north right now... Given that the winds have shifted to the NW this Cowra line is definately looking linear now, but it seems to be building on its northern flank.

The northern cell looks quite intense, the colours on radar certainly showing hail , at least very heavy rain. Will advise what i hear on scanner.

Whats that firetower you not sposed to climb but can, wheres that at mt trickett or shooters hill? always forget, anyway thatd make for some good (if slightly unsafe!) views for the approaching cowra storms btw, copious small/medium hail east of gilgandra, white out conditions apparantly, with strong wind gusts, i asked him to measure hail, and he replied he's staying in #$!&@ car, more thunderstorms building in w/sw metro

My mates pulled over at boyban park (spelling?) SE of gilgandra with still "heavy rain and heaps of hail and wind that feels like itll blow the car over". I'd pay $500 to be in that car right now, sounds hectic

Would you pay if it was your car?, I always dread being in those situations, but would be fun if you drove a tank.

Just got a 5 min burst of large heavy spaced rain where you can sort of walk in between the rain.
