Time for a new thread with new dates, me thinks.

GFS rain charts looking good for Wed/Thu, wouldn't be surprised to see some good off-shore lightning along the Sydney coast. Will probably end up being downgraded like always poke

I went down to Bredbo yesterday to try and find the possible touchdown point for tornado. I went from farm house to farm house and spoke to a lot of friendly farmers who were all too happy to share their experiences of the storm, including flooding, hail up to 50cent pieces (which is bigger than i got). I got some anecdotal evidence that the tornado touched down in the mountain range to the east of Bredbo: a farmer said that he saw a 'big swirling thing' on the ridge line of the mountains to his east but that he ran inside because golf ball sized hail started to drop from the sky along with some lighting.... hardly concrete stuff but it's all i've got at this stage. This i'm afraid it will make it extremely difficult to find a damage track, unless i can scrap up some money to charter a helicopter...... which might be perhaps going too far:) But fun though!

I showed a print out of the tornado at it's most obvious and people and people were very excited by it all. It was a good opportunity to educate them that the whole storm wasn't THE tornado like the media had suggested, rather a smaller part of it.

Some interesting rain fall figures came out, as you'd expect all of the farmers had accurate readings. One farmer that was 5kms nth out of Bredbo had 137mm from the storm! yet only 5kms further on they got 37mm, such was the isolation of the near stationary core. Will work on the other footage when i get a chance.

Thanks for the follow up there Greg. Always good to raise the profile in the wider community of conscientious chasers like yourself too.

Correct. WE were on the Bungonia road watching this cell about 5km away at this stage, It hadn't had many Cg's but a few minutes before the CA that hit near us there was another one that hit the paddock a Km or 2 away... Strangely, at the time the bolt hit near us I was taking a leek on a fence...and i saw a sign next to it and thought to myself "oh god, hope this isn't electrified"... and as reading the sign (it was saying there was Telstra Fibre optic underground 1m from the sign) i thought "ok cool, not electrified...until it gets struck by lightning *internal laugh*"..then FLASH.. in full sunshine where we were but everything around us Lit up brighter.. in the video of MT's that's the moment we all react to it.. then Crrrrraaaaaackkkkkkkkkkkkkkboooooooooooooooooooooooooooom....

None of us saw where it hit, but the noise started behind us...and it was close... we reckon 500m... And none of us got in the car after it either... it was close, but not close enough lol. We had a chuckle and got excited..and went back to watching the storm advance on us, perhaps hoping it would do more of the same. lol.
