MAIN POINTS TONIGHT

(1) A small lull in activity tonight, only light to moderate falls expected

(2) Tomorrow's showers and storms should begin earlier than today's

(3) the NT LOW will get trapped by an amplifying (strengthening) upper trough and will begin pushing SE. warm Air advection in the lower levels east of the LOW will create the potential for extremely heavy but short lived rainfall.

(4) An increasing threat of a tropical cyclone in the Coral Sea in the medium to long term. So check out our www.ozcyclonechasers.com update at about 9:30PM tonight.

We will have a new update between 6-7AM tomorrow morning. Thanks for watching and please provide feedback to improve these updates.

Today's storm chase led me to Macrossan near the Burdekin River just outside Charters Towers. Lovely wall cloud.

Great update nitso again
Any chance of slowing the animations a little as some of them are running too quickly for me to appreciate what is happening in any detail particularly when tRying to focus on the storm activity
Time for a beer?
Cheers

There are a few posts on it, not overly busy. I'd say the majority signed in are on the Brissy thread or maybe WA cyclone thread.

Townsville Storms.....I could see that wall cloud way off in the distance. I was hoping it would push through to ravenswood but it looks like that mingela killed the storm frown

Oh well maybe tomorrow.......so far out of this even I have not seen much so it must be more costal

Great stuff nitso. Good detail and explanation. I have a question: you explained the steering effects of the surface low, what steers the upper low?

Saw a comment by someone who could maybe, possible, remotely get cat 1 winds at their inland home if a cat 5 hit the coastal area and the idea of that was very scary for them .. Sometimes we humans can be very dramatic!!
Very Humid & Yuck tonight (not very scientific sorry grin ) looking forward to getting my aircon fixed next week

Nitso I listen to all your reports, it's about the only one I am recommending to friends at the moment, especially for me as I'm just so basic with weather and your reports are explained so easily and relaxed.
