Soundings are good for this afternoon. CAPE to 2200 with LI down to -5.
CAP is 0.8 at 28/21.
Pity there isn't more windshear to go with it, these storms will choke themselves as the winds are so light there is nothing to take the outflow away otherwise they would most likely be much more severe.

Todays storms are also unlikely to clear the range as the steering winds are very light. Basically they will form and die with very little movement.

I put some new plants in the garden a few weeks ago and am having to water them every second day just to keep them alive - for F**K sake it's mid February in the tropics - give us some rain!
Now that I've vented my frustration - Latest obs:
Currently @ 5:05 PM: Temp: 29.8°C, RH: 87%, Dew: 27.6°C, Heat In.: 39.4°C, Wind: NE at 4.7knots gusting to 6.6knots, Pressure: 1008.1hPa, Rain since 9am: [0.0mm, 24hrs to 9am: 0.0mm
Random question: Let's say the cape was like 7000 and the LI was -8, What sort of storm activity could we expect given that other conditions were favourable?

Bloody hell WWW I'm very jealous what a RIPPER!!!! I was far too tired last night to venture back out otherwise I would have been out and about with the 2nd round as well getting pics. Need an early night tonight as I've had 2 real late nights in a row.
I haven't been able to post any pictures so I have made a video these are some of the shots my daughter and me have taken over the years of Mackay Weather

Only 3.5mm out this way. Plenty of thunder and lightning around when I got home at 4. Can only hope for some more today but it doesn't look as good today as yesterday. Some nice photos TG.

2.8 millimetres here, better than nothing. Woke up this morning and logged onto my site and was pleased to see: "24 hrs to 9am: 2.8mm" "Last Rain Registered: 23/02/12 at 3:31 AM"
Sorry TG I missed seeing your weather shots last nite, just checked it out and thanks for sharing. I like the storm shots, but then again stormy weather is my favourite .
Just watched a nice shower build up Farleigh to Dumbleton, we had a few drops of rain and it cooled things for about 1/2hr.
