Central Coast & Whitsundays Wet Season - February 2012

Despite it being the shortest month of the year, on average February is the wettest. This year we’ve also got an extra day (29th) thrown in for good measure. Average monthly total for the majority of locations throughout the region is in excess of 300mm. BTW, the last time I started the monthly wet season thread we were hit by a Category 3 cyclone. Hope no one here is superstitious!

STW issued including northern areas of the CC&W area.
Looks like Proserpine town misses out again with only 5.2mm at my place and the airport recording 40mm!!

Very overcast here. Had a really heavy shower at like 4ish or something, then fined up a bit and just over the past few hours has developed from patchy showers to looking like it's settling in.
Hope so, the temperature is nice now!

Welcome to the forum tornado girl. Hope you have fun here.
Have had a tiny 3mm today, bringing my MTD to 215.2mm for Jan & the day is not over until midnight. Might squeeze another mm or 2 out tonight. That's really not too shabby for Jan. Better than last year, so I'm not complaining.

Severe thunderstorms are no longer occurring in the Central Coast and Whitsundays district and the warning for this district is CANCELLED. Now thats 100% correct information Did they occur somewhere I don't know about to start with?? :)To be no longer occuring, means they occurred in the first place, and sure as [censored] they didn't occur here

Welcome to the forum tornado girl. Well unless the LOW in the Gulf decides to head further south than anticipated it seems the bulk of activity over the next few days will be focused on regions further north. And with the current MJO status at the peak of its cycle for our region and progressing further east, it may be another month or so before we have another pulse move through to stir up some action. However it is the wet season and anything can happen. And if anyone is interested, I’ve posted the list of January rainfall totals from around the Mackay Region in the other thread. CLICK HERE

How thoughtful of you WWW. You left a spot on that list for Proserpine. Right at the bloody bottom. In comparison to whats on there, we would be last.Hopefully Feb. and March can give us some good rainfalls.
