This January has been dry, but if you change the maps data for the three month period Oct - Dec then we are well ahead of most years except last. Last year was exceptional.

The statistics can be misleading too of course. That freak 2 day rain event we had in October 2011 tends to warp the stats a little. If you change the 3 month period to Nov-Jan then we are below average. I think it uses mean average statistics though as opposed to the median average.

In fact most places on the North Tropical Coast got about the same amount of rain from those two days in October than the whole wet season so far!

Wish something would give ,, showers building again but nothing too push it on to the coast:(

Think I'm losing my mind , watching all these model runs endlessly changing ..

Raindammit rain

cheers

EDIT : with you WJ ,, need a good flood ..

Have to say that the BOM have done an exceptional job forecasting the weather this season considering how consistently wrong the models have been. Goes to show there is way more to predicting weather than merely relying on various models.

they havent been as good down here with their forecasting. been forecasting but as you say the models have been rubbish.
but sometimes sticking your head out the window can help. so many times they have forecasted rain at times in the past few weeks and its been fine all day. you can often tell whats happening in a day by going outside and getting a good feel for it.

If you remove that particular freak rainfall event then you are conducting an unfair comparison as you haven't set the same criteria for the other years.

Agree with you Willraja. I was just pointing out that generally speaking the actual wet season itself has been pretty poor rainfall wise so far along the North Tropical Coast.

radar looking a bit better than yesterday, but nothing is moving anywhere, and probably won't come over the coast because of that mega weak low off the coast frown

Yes, yes, yes. We have rain today (or rather overcast with intermitent heavy showers) and it is lovely. Been out weeding in it and it is soooo good.

On that note, broke a low pressure record again today as well. If that low in the GoC moves over/just north of us as forecast, gonna be interesting to see what that record drops to smile

At 996.5hPa at the moment.

11mm is nothing to sneeze at WJ!

Be nice to get something now to cut through this humidity!
