20.0mm here from rain this afternoon/evening. There was a period of moderate rain, otherwise it has been light to steady.

100.4mm at Kempsey Airport (all falling since 3pm) and 108.8mm at Coffs Harbour (about 100mm of that since 5pm). A couple of roads in and around Kempsey have been closed by localised flooding.

A yukky humid day here, but all that moisture that fell, or a lot of it, has to be sucked back up - so humidity is the price we pay for summer rain.

Misery radio aka scanner...

I am listening mostly to the SES and Police but when I hear a plane fly over my place at Sawtell I listen to the air traffic..

Last plane from Sydney to Coffs also turned back I think...

Cars drowned in Argyl st now. High tide is definitely a worry.

SES are ramping up the sandbagging around the creek in west coffs.

Looks like it might be moving slowly northwards with this southerly.
Started raining pretty heavy at Grafton now by the rainfall figures.
Grafton-35mm
Coffs-137mm
Kempsey-106mm
Port Macquarie-40mm
Looks like a bit more yet on the radar.

I think the highway is cut now at South Grafton and they have updated the flood warning for Coffs. Expecting 3m by midnight which is minor flood.

Highway cut at South Grafton. Light vehicles to use Centenary Drive, heavy vehicles New England highway, although it sounds to me as though a few more are coming through Lismore...

Edit: although by Thursday it could be cut further south like Kempsey or maybe even Corindi at Blackadder Creek again

Hello everyone. I'd like to ask a question of the Coffs Harbour members, please. I will be travelling from Kempsey to Woolgoolga on Thursday afternoon and wondered how everything is in the Coffs Harbour area?

I'm at Aldavilla (west of Kempsey) and at 4.30pm (31/1), the rain gauge here at home had 150mm when I went into town ... came home around 8pm and, as it was raining heavily here all that time, at a guess I am thinking we could have had around 200mm!! Never have had this much rain here that I can recall in a day (been here over 30 years)! frown Raining heavily in Kempsey while I was in town all that time.

Husband works at Gladstone so am hoping we'll be able to find out what is happening with the roads between Kempsey and Gladstone as he says that he doesn't believe they will be cut! I don't know about that .... frown

Keep safe. Cheers, Thundakat from MNC

All seems ok atm, keep an eye on the RTA live traffic for any road closures and I will try and keep you up to date with any 1st hand info.
