Awesome shot there Shamus!! That's a epic shot right there!
Looks like Brisbane got the worse of it today, we did not get much rain here, clouds are clearing now... Patches of blue sky...
Thanks Matt - not bad for a quick iphone through a window shot. As you can see, I get a pretty good view from my work desk. I got some good photos of the big storms in Dec 2010.
I dont know if this means anything but i had a weird dream last night about the right conditions for a tornado like a storm wind thing in the USA bedore a big storm. with a southerly and a northerly rotatting i donno sounds weird but hey, when was out in the surf today looked very dark towords vyron with storm features,
Here is my video from the drive home today from Rocklea at about 4pm - 4:30pm...
Was pretty crazy out there!
Hey Tigger , after you left work and stopped at the intersection of Fairfield Rd / Sherwood Rd how was the underpass there? Flooded? The creek that feeds into that runs down the back of mine and it looked like it had broken its banks after only 10min.
Hi Tarks, to be honest, I didn't look at under the overpass when I went through the intersection but I would imagine that it would have had water over it as I have seen it go under in less rain than that!
So I don't quite understand we have a severe weather warning for "parts of the northern rivers from the QLD border to port Macquarie ............ First question what parts of the NR And my second question why a SWW when the rain has moved off the coast?
Yeah, seemed a bit late and vague didn't it? But keep in mind the flash flooding can continue for a while even after the rain eases or stops. For both the MNC event late Tues/early am Wed, and the second phase around Bellingen and northern NRs yesterday arvo/early evening, the BoM issued the SWW after most of the rain had fallen.
Sometimes it's probably not worth issueing the SWW until some heavy rain has been measured - though to the public it seems an after thought.
76mm here to 9am, most of which fell between 5pm and 8pm EDT. No lightning observed.
MB
That's great to hear your measurements MB. My guess here at Wollongbar would have been 60-100mm. Very heavy sustained rain in the evening but during the night we had a number of very heavy falls... They woke me and would have lasted 15 mins or more. The grass is waterlogged and I am on top of the hill here!!!

Has been some awesome stormy looking clouds around today, mount warning has been making clouds like it always does, an has been some good looking clouds out to sea might get some rain but thats about it on my last post i never said the t word just said good conditions for it, tho would have to get a good storm going first i think there will just be heavy showers havnt heard thunder for a while
Seems to be some isolated cells popping up in SEQ. Just got dark around here with some wind picking up, nothing serious though (looks like there might be some light rain). If anything does build it seems it will be coming from the south.

Hi all, Finally got around to posting up my footage from yesterdays storms I chased from Yamanto back toward Springfield. These are all from the Yamanto Area.
Some nice Wall clouds and suspected dust getting kicked up by the RFD
