I think the reason the BoM uses the 0900hr to 0900hr times is a left over from the days of all manual readings. If it was midnight to midnight, there would be a lot of tired gauge readers getting out of bed to reset their gauges.

DaveM that 3:30-4:00pm shower was absolutely torrential coming out of Kelso going up the Raglan Hill, great fun to drive in Of course, hit Yetholme and the road was dry. Second day in a row! Hope it destroys the Sydney Road some more so they finally realise that a shovel-full of tar is not going to fix the problem.

It's sure a pretty sight out there. Right on the edge of a heavy stationary base to the north, and the side of a pimk tower to the NW.

In fact this whole page is entirely made up of daves. I think we should secede and start our own dave only forum, mods? Pffft to Daves. Homer threads should rule. Currently 19.2. 2 mm's of rain this afternoon. The radar was doing strange things this afternoon. Stuff coming in from the NW. Stuff coming in from the SE. Staitionary stuff as well. Quite a weird day shower wise, really. ACT BOM forecast sounds terrific. Hope you lot down there get a really good drenching. Homer

Yeah - check out the latest 24 hour at the airport - it's still creeping and it's too regular to be precip in my mind. The Bathurst Airport AWS raingauge is definitly broken!!, just gone nuts last night. I wonder what sort of fault this is?

Maybe the rain gauge has turned into a dripolator. Maybe a sprinkler is nearby. It was nice and cool this morning, very wet - not sure if it was precip or heavy dew. MS - radar shows active cells out west of Cowra and around Gulgong. From here I can see build up out past you as you said. Bx was clear sky an hour ago but cloud cover riding the NE breeze has rapidly increased to 4 or 5 8ths. A message bought to you from the first Dave. Member # 52 I remember coming across WZ, it asked me to register, I could have been member 7 or 8 but I went back out, came back a day or two later and was 52. Coincidentally now i'm 53. Actually - how many members can get to their member no in age - not many - aaah the elite.

Dave #26917 checking in Seems to be a fair bit of convection around Sydney, few cells popping up but nothing with any long life.

We keep getting tantalising little rain falls, and then it clears. I feel like I've been waiting for this big stuff for days. This morning it was so dark, and raining, and within half an hour it had left and the sun was out. Back to dark now, but no rain, yet. The Molonglo and Qbn rivers east of ACT are on flood alert so clearly something big is expected.

Yes, the forecasts are pretty certain. It's just that Opticast has all these heavy falls on it, which never come. But the BOM is being very serious about this area starting this arvo.

Sunny with a mixture of blue sky and fluffy white clouds on the lower North Shore, with dark heavy cloud to the Northwest. Makes a nice change from the uniform mid-grey twilight we've had most of the time since early Monday afternoon. The radar shows a few small cells of moderate to heavy showers in Sydney's west. Maybe we'll get something intersting today - a bit of thunder and lightning or at least some heavy showers.
