Canberra resides in an okay location for some avo pulsey storms today going by ACCESS. The big question to me is whether the Ne winds will be constant enough to pump moisture in for prolonged periods to keep cells ticking along. I have my money on a little further south though, Bredbo dare i say it is looking more than likely a sweet spot today. Not a lot of sheer though, so it will rely mostly on surface convergence today.

Bredbo's been in the box-seat for storms this "summer", it seems. well, that area sure could do with the rain, the Monaro plain was in some epic drought, for decades, so there's a lot of catching up.

Saw something awesome on Saturday arvo, had to go to Central Coast for a sick relo. Follwed heavy storms from Lithgow all the way across Bells Line - leaves and small branches EVERYWHERE - suspect plenty of hail. Looking towards the Katoomba side of the Grose Valley - it was very black and looked nasty.

We were just on the tail end of some obviously very heavy storms - chased them all the way across to Windsor.

Got a good heavy storm and hail about 2pm near McGraths Hill VERY windy and very heavy rain with marble sized hail for about 20 minutes.

BUT the most spectacular thing we saw were two HUGE waterfalls on the northern bank of the Hawkesbury just upstream of the mooney bridge. I'm talking HUGE waterfalls about 2km away pouring over two cliffy valleys ends - looked sort of 20m wide and say 30 to 40 m high, 2 valleys only about 1km apart pouring into the Hawkesbury over the cliff like sides. In all my years going up and down that region I've NEVER seen anything like it.

Would love to have taken a photo but they probably frown on people stopping in the middle of the bridge over the Hawkebury.

Dave - saw the same thing a little while back after some heavy rain while crossing the Hawkesbury River. We stopped on the north side of the river but couldn't find a vantage to view the falls. Very spectacular as you said

Andrew

Hey guys, i do a lot of lurking on here and not very much posting. This morning Ninemsn put up some new footage of the waterspout off Stockton beach and i noticed it hadn't been put up here. Not the best quality but appears to be the closest that anyone managed to capture

If anyone hasnt seen it link below:

thanks Rojo.

Fairly weak and pulsey cells on the ranges, esp over the far western back section where the the convergence currently sits. Seems the Ne winds are dominating atm, i hope that this line pushes a little further east, how i'll be careful what i wish for, knowing our luck it will push too far east;)

Geeze i'm loving the wind stream lines on WZ, makes now-casting so much easier!

That sky to the west of Canberra is looking good. But will it make it into town today (or should I say to more of Canberra than just Tuggeranong)?

So Greg, the point of convergence of those wind stream lines is where the cells will form?

I called it the Mooney Bridge - Doh!!

I meant the bridge over the Hawkesbury on the Freeway - Brooklyn. Gee I'm a goose.

I don't know which topic to post in, this one or the newer one. Everyone's in this one...

Canberra's western horizon looks angry! And the radar looks even better. Surely we'll get it this time, although I actually got some solid and useful rain yesterday evening, the storms just clipped me.

And look at Jerangle, it's at-it yet again.

How's the drought there now... pretty-much gone, or are the effects still happening? That area was in some weird micro-climate for years and years.
