Hi guys, I'm bringing the Willobago up to Townsville for the weekend. Hoping for a storm or two. Any suggestions for a good place to camp. Pref a spot where I can take photos over the water. I'm thinking Tooluma, Toolakea, Balgal etc?

Rowes Bay caravan park across the road from the beach/Magnetic Island, Rollingstone caravan park 60klm north of Townsville is pretty good to. For free camping there is the camp ground at Toolakea on the Forrestry Road/Bruce highway but it is about 5 to 6 klm inland from the beach and you can only stay for 24 hours from memory.

Had 19mm here overnight till 9am this morning, some very strong wind gusts with it. Blew my daughters shade/pergola thingy down the back yard and smashed it to bits.
So cool this morning but hot and humid now. Air Cons back on.
Knew it would rain, watered the gardens yesterday.

"storms to the left of me, storms to right, stuck in the middle with 0".
seems everyone got some cept us poor souls in the central burbs! 9am rainfall charts, 20mm to my west, 20mm to my east, and nothing in the middle!!

massive storms cells building to the west of us, gone up very, very quickly, and of course when storms are out there, our winds are from the north, of south they go!!

Hi Willow Balgal Beach is good. There is a free camping area on the beach down near fishermans landing and a free camp at Bushy Parker Park on Rollingstone creek,I,m pretty sure they are 48 hrs but he council is pretty lax on policing that all the way out at Balgal Beach ,they would neeed a cut lunch to drive up here.
By the way we received 14mm in an overnight storm

0.4mm in the gauge this morning - either a frog sneezed in it or a solitary raindrop blew waaay off-course and happened to rather luckily fall straight in, either way it's not going to make much difference to my rather dismal totals. Oh well, that said, maybe there is hope for something in the next couple of days. The positive thing is that due to the nature of this wet season, the grass out around here has really come back well this year - unlike other (wetter) years where the weeds seemed to have choked the grass out, so for peeps with stock it's actually turning out to be quite a good thing, just so long as we get some decent rain in the next week or so as the grass is now seeding smile

Shiek, the free one is next to teh Fishermans Landing store/pub nice spot to sit, have a few cold cleansing ales and watch the water go by. Just take plenty of Bushmans or Rid as the sandflies are pure demons up there.

Overcast all day today. Nil rain since when ever it fell last night and Mick if I could give you my piddling 3mm you would be second on my list of people to get it, Tan would be first.

Scored a massive 1mm of rain out here in Kelso last night. Woke up and checked the radar to see a good storm o'er the whole of Townsville and a little ray of moonshine o'er my place and it would appear Mick10s.

Crossing fingers, toes, arms, legs, hairs (and anything else anatomically cross-able) that we all get at least a little something worth remembering this season!!!

Isn't there the free park at Bluewater or Rollingstone? It's on the left off the highway as you head north? I'm thinking it's close to the Bluewater store or Rollingstone pub - can't remember which. You can also camp at the Black River rodeo site, I am sure they have a caravan park there, but other than that all the regular places that you mentioned are good, too.

Am I dreaming? I am sure I can hear thunder (or they're doing blasting or something at Yabulu). Hope we get some good rain out of the rain that seems to be coming towards us on the radar.
