Just cruisin' the forums & Boxsey, you just gave me one of my best laughs for the day!

Hope you guys up there get some rain soon. Here in Andergrove, Mackay, I've had 110.8mm today, since midnight. Gotta love the wet!

Hey Boxey Green tree frogs I Love , So funny you say about one jumping on your face , because about a year ago I was asleep something fell on my face and i swiped it off in my stupor and groggily thought ahh its only a frog , and nearly went back to sleep till the thought popped into my brain that it could be a huntsman so turned the lamp on and looked down and there was a froggy looking up at me , had to get out of bed pick him up and put him outside. Sooooo glad it wasnt a spider . I worked out he had somehow come from the aircon above my bed and landed directly on my head ..glad my mouth wasnt open snoring grin

Lots of his cousins croaking loudly tonight , all the wet seasons creatures are singing loudly

Yeah, amazing you guys are missing out on this.
As i just posted in the Central Coast thread.
Here at my place 30km SW of Mackay.
73mm to 9am Fri (all fell between 11pm Thu & 9am Fri)
+ 46.4mm to 9am Sat
+ 112.6mm since from 9am Sat to 1am Sun.
= 232.0mm for the event so far.

The down side to this great rain event though has been that we've had no power for about the last 10 hours for some unknown reason, i assume it's weather related though as we lost it during some good storms in the afternoon.

Anyway, hope you guys up north get some decent rainfall soon!!

Ive been watching the radar over the last few days, i hope im wrong but due to the wind direction the rain seems to be scooting past just off shore of magi island and its good rain too, i feel unless things change with the wind and stearing inviroment we arnt going to see much here in townsville out of this event, possible light showers and thats it, as SBT said not long ago when they say rain or possible heavy falls we need to add on (except for Townsville)

Here at Rollingstone, we were under solid yellow/orange for quite a time in the early hours of the morning with a bit of thunder about. Not sure of local totals but plenty of water lying about. It's very still here this morning now though ....

Well, I'm glad it was amusing for some! LOL. Perhaps it's a sign of masses of rain to come when frogs are looking for highset accommodation.

Once it landed on my face, i grabbed it and through it across the room. I thought it would have died from the trauma...but, it put up a healthy chase for my hero hubby, who relocated it to terrorise the neighbours instead. It was a bloody big frog, and I feel like I may still have the imprint across my eye/cheek/ear. He landed in full stretch!

Have decided I may need to replace the flyscreen in my bedroom window.

We missed out again last night, what a joke, i swear there is rain everywhere to our north, west and south, it just dies as soon as it comes near here, its as if a dry area of air just sits over us.

I drove to the towers yesterday and it pissed down the whole way.

Im off to sydney till friday night, i bet you guys will get some rain eventually, but its a joke that we havent gotten anything this weekend.

Whats the go? The forecast charts have shown that we can have rainfall, as long as its not over land, and hugs the coast. As soon as it gets near the coast it dies? Whats causing this?

If you look at the Isobars down south near MAckay the isobars are heading straight at the coast hence the rain down that way, you will see on the chart that as it nears us the isobars head north eg causing a S/E wind which = very little rain for us, without a change in this we might as well turn our sprinklers on

Well I've got a few weeks off, if we don't get rain next week, I'm going to fill up the car and start chasing the rain. I want a wet season. IS that too much to ask?

Last year after Yasi, it seems we got very little rain, lets hope this is not a repeating cycle.

VICTORY!!
this morning i did a live cross with Premier Bligh from our Tville office for Weekend Sunrise, before she went on air i said to her "if you get a chance please give Townsville a plug, we are never on the national weather map like Cairns".
So she did! was rather funny, the producer on the show confirmed we will be on the map from tomorrow!
now just have to work on SBS, CH10, Ch9, but i think we might be on ABC already.

well done mick can you get her to use her position of power to influence the rain, however i think we need some devine intervention so we can either A. get Ghandi or the pope to visit or B. On the next time a cross is done Anna does a rain dance. Even if the latter doesnt work it would be funny to see. Might win her some votes to if somone in parliment shows a little normal human sense of humor and personality.

Last March was the most rainfall to hit Townsville since records were taken....can't remember who wrote that but Maggie got another 280mm ontop of the nearly 700mm that Townsville got ,so take heart everyone ,the wet isn't over.
