I'm so pleased I am looking from the outside in....really don't need to experience a cyclone this year. That popeye is great and the cable beach web cam is really fun to watch through the day.

Raining steadily here in HBay again, had 17mm from 11am-7pm today.

Are you able to post that link Joc?
And I understand what you mean, the adrenalin rush was unreal but the reality of what happened to some and what could have happened is scary!

Very frustrating when you wait all season and finally something is actually happening and BOOM the radar is out.Go Figure!! frown Had hardley anything but a spit out this way south of Bowen .My dam is dry still and usually by this time she is overflowing.Hopefully reedem itself weatherwise this weather event as the showers are nice and constant as soon as the sun went down.Would be nice though if the radar was actually working when it rained though.

BOM 4 days charts

TC still alive near Halls Creek = WOW! This must be very vigorous monsoonal flow! It got MT over us on Sunday and Monday. In coincident with GFS and other models still going to very insane intense falls and squally N monsoonal winds.

WOW look at 06Z update. Going for 1200mm just off the coast here! Must be something is bad going to happen there! SFC winds from stormcast show there going to be two monsoonal lows coming down the QLD coast this 7 days. One currently from the NT hitting us on Sunday and shoot off the coast too quickly. Then another one forms right top of us Tuesday triggering another monsoonal burst.

No wonder most models going for HUGE totals! Must be potential for cyclones in CS as the MJO phase heads into stage 7!

I watched Ch 9 and Burnsie said we are in for a rough weekend, another low forming in the southern gulf as well as the low coming over from Darwin way and a low possibly forming off Nth Qld Coast next week around cooktown-cairns area.

Plus Monsoon Trough coming down over Cairns area as well so I dont think we will be getting any fine weather up here.
Have to wait and see if any of these lows turn into Cyclones but it is possible with the current weather set up. Just wait and watch and be alert not alarmed.

Down below Rocky is expected to be mainly fine but not up here.

the length of time a cyclone remains intact overland is also dependent on its forward speed aswell as its infeed. also its strength of course. remembering that Yasi made it close to Mt Isa before being downgraded to a depression.
the real intrest will be if the NT low gets back over water in the GOC, the short term models really ramp up that low in the far SE corner of the GOC come sunday into monday. this will suck in alot of moisture in from the coral sea with very strong winds if the low keeps moving eastwards. mathew described what the models are saying above. so i wont repeat it.
but certainly a very interesting week ahead for us. great to finally get some 'real' wet season type weather. noting today was really the first time we have seen a region wide rain event, with all day precip so far this season.
