Well things have definitely cranked up a notch here in Hedland. Gusts to 70+kms per hour being reported and a definite feel of something is coming around work at the moment. Heard rumours of a Yellow alert being issued at 12:00PM. Won't worry about that until the BOM Site actually issues it. Looks like some rain bands heading in from the North, nothing substantial but signs of things to come.
Can also hear the loud calls of my Corona's sitting in the fridge, more intense and louder than the winds at the moment.

She is a big monster, any change on the ETA, seems to be picking up the pace a bit, looks almost like she will be arriving earlier, or is she expected to do this and slow up?

Thought it had slowed up in the last 3 hours myself, but could be wrong, the Visible structure on the Satellite Loop looks amazing, and looks to be an eye forming. Hope the OCC boys get here with no problems, only thing that would stop them is a few floodways along the way.

What type of internet connectivity are you OCC boys geared up with? Wireless unlimited 4g mate. I got about 1500 songs on my I phone so I'm right!

What happens between Broome & Hedland when you have no mobile coverage? Just record everything and broadcast later?

We are video taping the trip for our documentary for our drive to hedland mate, but we will start live streaming when the gales start late tonight or in the morning. This may change though as we have driven 2500ks in two days and need some rest.
I will keep you updated don't worry.

Worst case scenario if you were chasing would be crossing midway between Pardoo and Eighty Mile Beach. (but a good outcome for Port Hedland).
This would make finding a safe spot to sample the peak destructive winds of the inner eyewall an extremely dangerous proposition as I doubt you'd find anywhere to provide cover.
The radius of 64kt winds extends only about 60-65km from the cyclones centre and the 90kt gusts probably only 25-30km.
If your chasing in QLD its much easier to find a place to shelter during those maximum gusts. The road between Port Hedland and Broome offers little in the way of shelter.

Was just out for a drive in Hedland doing a bit of organisation. Leaving Port Haven before I made it to the airport I saw about 4 or 5 caravans on their way out in quick sucession.
Getting fairly windy out there!!!

I'm actually surprised it didn't happen @ 9am the FESA guy in Hedland must have some balls, if it was Karratha we would have been on yellow Thursday morning.
BOM must be putting some thought into this one, 8 mins late.
