No scope Walffles - this system will move inland due to ridging

Its getting pretty near the coast now radar has it heading south now with a tendancy to a very marginal recurve closer to Pardoo. I think the OCC fellas will be to the West if not right in the western eyewall. Jason was commenting if that was the case then the winds after the core had passed them coming from the west could be the strongest.

edit** just spoke to the OCC fellas again. Picking up big time now. Trav is great doing heaps of filming, Mick is right into everything, photography, Nitso is getting the obs and Jason is keeping us updated, filming and keeping an eye out on the whole situation. Small bushes low lying stuff is starting to break off and move past them. They are situated on the protected side from the SE winds for now but once crossing it may become the intense side as the winds may come from the West/NW.

Hope everyone in the area stays safe. Very windy here, but much less extreme than I imagined.

i would say they will cop the full force of this. They look to be inside the radius of most destructive winds when it crosses. the asymmetry of the system should go out the window with how close they are to the center.

Yeah same Mel. If you get the chance down on the beach at Gantheaume is alot stronger. Down there this morning and it was straight off the ocean and whistling past. Almost like the swell has had its top flattened off too by stronger winds. Still big but I was expected more. Waves a breaking a KM offshore in places though and when you look at the size of them they are still humongous for Brome. Biggest I have seen in 11 years.

Thanks for the update Popeye...

They would want to have their chase car parked in a safe spot otherwise it will be gone.

The footage they get will be shown worldwide I would imagine...

Can't wait to see it.

Stay Safe only a few hours to go eye of the wall only 50 kms from Pardoo even less if they are on the coast as stated earlier..

I see the eye's about 40 km's wide by about 30 kms long, imagine the footage from that??

Watch for the small reflective dip as it nears landfall. It should deflect more southerly as the stronger winds find land mass. It will only be slight as land is very flat in that region. But it should put the boys right in line.

I would imagine money well spent on this chase as the footage should be great.

+ 4 more unexpected guests....
Listening to FESA, they have done risk management on areas around, roadhouses, stations etc where people have elected to stay and are satisfied with their setups. Guy at Sandfly(?) Roadhouse said their sea containers (shelters) are welded to thick concrete slabs (guessing inbedded steal footings) within a covered area.

Popeye, I hope the lads have an eye open for the possibility of tornadoes developing with it being a cat 4 as it crosses the coast.

After seeing the latest loop, I reckon 80 Mile beach caravan park looks more likely now to cop the brunt...

http://maps.google.com.au/maps?hl=en&q=80+mile+caravan+park&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.r_qf.,cf.osb&biw=1904&bih=892&wrapid=tlif133196021999110&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=N&tab=wl

Any thoughts??

The footage they get will be amazing! Travis would be unable to stand from the amount of weather orgasms he's having at the moment lol!

Looks to me that she'll cross close to Wallal Downs, seems to be moving slightly more to the East at the moment.

Please stay safe boys!!
