You got me wondering if a cane toad croaks?

Found this page below. Sounds more like a wardle.

Very squally wind up here. Can hear branches breaking in the forest, and things outside keep getting blown around. Been steadily picking up all afternoon / evening. Wish we had an anemometer smile

Latest track map for soon-to-be TC Mitchell. Be aware that there is also a Severe Weather Warning for Port Douglas south (not necessarily related).
If you thought it was wet now....

Boomer, are we likely to see more rain in the greater Cairns area. At the moment we see it falling to West of Cairns over the ranges. Why is that and how come it's not hanging around the coastline more?

More rain from the monsoonal trough without a doubt for most of the week.
As to why it's falling over the ranges that's one of Cairns's great mysteries (known as the Lamb Range force field... but that's normally from the west) in this case it appears to be a North Easterly push.

Don't worry Westy... we are going to get plenty on the coast.

Right now the influence is also from the low (possibly to be named Mitch)... he's been a bastard to predict.
I'm going to bed...

strong squally rain here in the valley and I just saw weird ground lightening, no thunder, twice. horizontal rain in all directions. Over now but lasted ten mins, all from that rain band that just came through. Back to bed, yawn.

Smashing down in the city and squally too. Gutters are sll overflowing.

TC Mitch will have to wait. The low near the GoC is heading south over land so has turned earlier than forecast and won't be getting s name.

Absolutely smashing down hereCF, radar is exploding. Going to be some nice totals around the place - that's if a lot of the rain makes it into gauges :-)

It's hammering down here. Curiosity got the better of me so went out in the dark for a quick measure of the Nylex and there was over 70mm in it, but a fair bit more has been added since.

Hope it keeps up for at least another 30mm as I'd love to show 100mm on my rainfall chart - haven't had one so far this year.

Looks like the possible GOC cyclone development is off, low heading inland. Wondering whether that means more rain in FNQ or little influence with what else is happening.

For those that missed it wink

60mm since midnight at home. 580mm for March and 1270mm for the year. Not too shabby after a slow start. Kind of makes me wonder what April has up it's sleeve.

80mm since 9am- felt like more. Looks like we are in for a few wet days.
I know as to be expected the Machans Beach Rd is closed; Holloways- closed; Trees and Rocks down on Capt Cook Hway between Ellis Beach & Port Douglas. Kuranda Range- traffic flow issues.
