You know it's the dry season(start of) when... Everyone starts posting "Go (insert favourite NRL team)". A whole day of posts fit on one page. There are no more "black arrow forecasts" by Mathew. SBT's mankini is in the wash. and...Instead of chasing storms I was taking a star trail photo... I drove around for an hour looking for a landmark of Townsville to do this shot with...and in the end did it my backyard. Why? Don't ask me! As the realization that I won't get to see another lightning bolt for atleast 6 months sank in yesterday I felt physically ill. I am off into hibernation I guess...will be back though to whinge about the cold at some stage.

As stated in the March thread... See you all later in the year..Hopefully september for an early build up??? Not looking forward to the excess water bills. Would it be to much to ask for an inch a week over the next month to keep the lawn looking good at least.

So it looks like the end of a very dull season, cyclone wise. Would have been great to watch one out in the CS for a few days even if it was going SE. Oh well, looks like back to the family history for a few months. You never know we may get some nice rain every now and again just to keep us happy and water the gardens.
Being a Mexican like Mick,I never thought the day would come when I would wake up and think "Oh no,not blue sky AGAIN" I like the Cowboys but am a Pies fan, you know what I mean Mick. All I can say is AFL on a bad day and bottom teams, gets in excess of 45-50000 fans. Definately footy mad down south. Well very calm and cool out here, had some great breezes today but nothing now.

Nil rain for 10 days now, Gardens are in full bloom and so is the weeds.
424 days since STC Yasi crossed the coast with no local cyclone action since them.
10 days since last recorded rainfall at my place.

The next 5 months threads will be full of the following: The cost of Ugh Boots, the dreadfull lack of rain in the dry, reverse cycle airconditioners used for heating when teh temprature drops below 25C maximums, the horrible lack of rain causing falling dam levels, the anguish of no rain and whether the council should start pumping water from the Burdekin Dam, the piss poor cyclone season in north queensland since Yasi, El Nino causing lack of rainfall in north queensland even though we are already way over average, how cold it is and lack of rain following the one day of the year we get a mist/fog on Ross River and probably some waffling about the upcomming Wet Season and how many cyclones we will get and how badly done by we are from the lack of recent rainfall and a longing for another 206mm rain event like the 19th March 2012 etc. There will be some discussion on the coldest day, a possible sighting of dew that will end up being nothing more than overspray from next doors irrigation, fires from burning off this years bumper crop of Spear Grass and how dry Townsville looks for the V8's and we shouldn't be burning off during that time because it makes Townsville look bad, filthy carnies and the show causing untold flu infections, lack of lawn mowing will be a major relief for some people, trimming trees for the next cyclone season, new cameras and some dry season photography including a section on what the small white fluffy things are in the sky and quite possibly the forum will go into melt down if we actually get a 10mm rain event on any one day. Um did I miss anything? Oh yeah minimal perciptitation in the Townsville area between April and November. Guess I can now just go into hibernation then as that seems to have covered the entire next 5 months or so.

You are so right Mick. Amazing how I have gone from slop to brick in such a short time. A bit tricky finding a shady place for my remaining ferns, they are expressing their disapporval at the amt of sun by burning off. A few plants including mango tree and roses have quite a few dying leaves more so from wind burn I expect. I'm hoping a dose of fishguts will make them feel better. We should at least have a reasonable flush from the remainding trees that were snapped off to get a bit of shade by November... My west tree used to save me heaps in a/c

Is the footage going to be on 7 Regional News on Monday Mick?
Last time I was out there last year there was a chinese kid sitting on top of the fence to your left taking photos for his Mum. He must have been about 10 or 12 and I hunted him off there quick smart.
Sometimes I think people should have to pass a licence test or something to have children.
