was on last tuesday night SBT, bit slow on getting the pix up.
the story was actually about an eel trapment program that allows eels to travel up a specially built ramp and into a giant tank where they get emptied twice a day and taken about 1km away from the spillway and released into the lake waters. the eels only have the time period that the gates are open to travel. once they are closed thats it for the eels.
you can see the device on the far left in the shadows on the photo which you can see me.

There will be some discussion on the coldest day, a possible sighting of dew that will end up being nothing more than overspray from next doors irrigation, fires from burning off this years bumper crop of Spear Grass and how dry Townsville looks for the V8's and we shouldn't be burning off during that time because it makes Townsville look bad, filthy carnies and the show causing untold flu infections, lack of lawn mowing will be a major relief for some people, trimming trees for the next cyclone season, new cameras and some dry season photography including a section on what the small white fluffy things are in the sky and quite possibly the forum will go into melt down if we actually get a 10mm rain event on any one day.

Um did I miss anything?

Oh yeah minimal perciptitation in the Townsville area between April and November. Guess I can now just go into hibernation then as that seems to have covered the entire next 5 months or so. wink

last nights, eastern end of HB...where else....bragging, bragging, bragging

If someone try to search Horseshoe Bay on the map, google automatically selects it as Horseshoe Bay at SF in California! That bay on map is definitely look like a horse shoe shaped!

Funny but random.

No worries Mick, been a tad distracted to watch too much TV the last week so I missed it.

Wedding plans, things fallen through, other things working out, meh life in general. People comming in from NSW, WA, Tas coordinating pick ups and transfers to and from the airport booking hotel rooms etc all a mess until I stepped in and told them all to f off I would sort it. Not like it wasn't my job in the army or anything. About the only thing I can't sort out is teh weather but June 30 has usually been pretty good no rain as it is a garden wedding so if that goes pear shaped it is all my fault ...... apparently.

I think we got down to 17 today.

People that is, across the entire weatherzone forums, it seems many have chosen to stare at the wall rather than look at the weather.. because staring at the wall is more entertaining. Nah not really, school holidays are on, I guess there's a few outside chained to their cars so they won't get stolen.

GFS is barely predicting the odd shower out to sea next week. Sigh.

Yeah we had a few visitors Sat night, our little 4 legged car thief alarm always give us the heads up if someone is around. They were actually at a neighbors car, we called the police but it takes a while for them to do a patrol.

I have geese. Had one attempted break in about 10 years ago. I near pizzed myself laughing at two fully grown men (OK they where stoned at the time) screaming like babies as my geese attacked them.
Still no sign of any rain but the Coral Sea is looking like kicking off.
No you can't borrow my geese. Sorry.

Hmm eat my cyclone food??? Not when my wife just made me a batch of Red Velvet cup cakes. Lol.

Nil rain over night and yes the weather is balmy RWMD.

I might just duck out and check my new generator this arvo and give it a bit of a run. Not that i'm thinking that i will need it but I haven't had a play with it for a while.

Just letting everyone know. Oz cyclone chasers website may be unavailable for a while, and the Facebook page is getting a make over.

Also if anyone hears anything bad about us, rest assured its not true and we will be continuing as the sole force in oz.

Good idea SBT. You are probably very savy with motors etc however might I suggest for those of us no so, have the instruction book handy (probably more applicable to the female fraternity who tend to actually use them wink ) Scratching around in the dark with a torch looking for the book because one cant remember which way the choke lever goes, which is open /close on the fuel lever - can save a lot of attempted pull starts!! (and the posibility of pulling the cord out with over exuberances and frustration creating a "not happy Jan" situation) And helps if the ON switch is actually on! You can go a bit stupid in an emergency situation, I know I scale down to about 2 functioning neurones .

I now have the booklet under the plastic cover (an old water bed bladder - stops the dogs burying it during their archeological diggings) on the actual generator.

LOL mouldy, I opted for the Push Button start so if I'm not home Mrs SBT can just wheel it out of the shed and press Start. Of course that means having to keep the battery charged.
