could get a bit wet on wednesday/thursday as a upper trough pushes WEST onto the coast

Forecast for Wednesday
An upper trough will move westwards across the Tasman Sea and destabilise conditions about the south-east coast. As well, the high over the southern Tasman Sea will strengthen a little and direct moist SE winds onto the southern coast. So showers will increase along the southern coast and spread inland a little in the afternoon. Isolated showers will continue over far northern Cape York Peninsula and through Torres Strait. Fine conditions will continue elsewhere over the state.

Forecast for Thursday
The upper trough will move a little further westwards resulting in conditions becoming unstable over the south-east of the state. So showers will continue about the far south-east coast and will spread into the south-east inland in the afternoon. As well, showers will again develop in the onshore flow over remaining east coast districts while continuing over far northern Cape York Peninsula and through Torres Straits. Fine conditions will continue elsewhere over the state

At this stage, I wouldn't completely rule out the chance of a sneaky storm or two tomorrow afternoon/evening along the north coast as some colder upper temps make a fleeting visit.

Whoo hoo more pumping swells .At least this area has got that goin for it! world class waves.Certainly lost its claim to fame for storms.I think the instability along the coast during Wednesday and Thursday will come in the form of YEP YOU GUESSED IT showers and southeast winds.

A bit of storm activity down around Taree/Forster around 9-10am this morning. There is currently a bit of lightning in a storm moving along the coastal fringe towards Laurieton and Port Macquarie, accompanied by a couple of mod/heavy showers in the vicinity.
BOM have noticed the storms, and have updated the MNC's forecast to include 'isolated thunderstorms in the late morning and afternoon, mainly in the south'.
The cloud and showers moved in quickly on the Bonny Hills BSCH webcam.

Not long had a thunderstorm pass through here. There was some briefly heavy rain and squally winds. 8.6mm of rain fell, mainly in a period of about 4 to 5 minutes. I would estimate that the wind got to around 60-70km/h during the peak of the storm. It was a fiesty little cell, and its peak intensity caught me by surprise. Although, there were only a small handful of thunder rolls as it came through (counted seven).
It is now sunny and mild. The storm cell is just offshore of Nambucca Heads now (dark orange / red), and could give Coffs/Woolgoolga a quick hit.

Absolutly stunning day here today with wall to wall sunshine, light winds and it very briefly reached 30C.
Two weeks ago I was bored of rain and now I am starting to get bored of this settled weather. Never happy!

A bit of instability is currently forecast across NE NSW on Monday as the trough moves through. Just the chance of some 'garden variety' storms at this stage. But considering it's April, you can't really complain about that at all. Especially as the likelihood of storm activity reduces dramatically during this month and becomes almost non-existent through May/Winter. frown
