No rain yet for Penrith. A little bit of wind. Not really expecting much here. I think it will be a very coastal event.

Some heavy showers earlier this morning, 8mm in ten minutes for one of those showers at about 4.30am.
Left for work at 7am this morning and had 32.1mm in gauge, event total stands at 47.7mm to 7am this morning.

I see the Hunter has been included in the SWW.

Just looking east atm and its very dark!!

Bucketed down here in eastern burbs at 7.30 with a small river down my driveway. The remote recorded 10mm in about 8 mins. Total 24mm from this shower and showers earlier in night. Looks like more to come today.

Indeed it was. You could not cross George Street without getting soaked up past your heels. Lots of women getting around in bare feet.
I waited for it to let up in Carrington Street and watched the steps to Wynyard Park become a waterfall.

Would love to know who decided not to put out a road weather alert for Sydney.

Had a small flood in our office this morning after that downpour over Sydney around 7.30am. Loads of Macs ruined and we are on the 1st floor of a 3 storey building.

Landlord is going to be up for a decent damage bill as it all came through the ceiling from the floors above.

Should be a fun day at work

It's all happening in the Sydney CBD, pretty dramatic. Today's radar is a big change from yesterday, rain all down the coast now, reaching in but stopping at the mountain escarpment. We've had a gusty E/SE wind going since yesterday evening, so it'll be interesting to see if that has any effect. Forecast is still saying we'll get precip, maybe even tonight.

We have RAIN forecast in Bathurst for 3 days - won't happen we're on the lee side of the ranges. We may get a shower or two but it should be very minor.

Nothing heavy here as yet,but looking at the radar the heavier rain is now starting to move further inland, so I dont think it will be long before we get some heavier stuff, only light here at the moment.

Thanks for the information regarding the radar, I had a feeling it was overeading but wasn't totally sure.
Had a fantastic sunset last night on the way to work (no chance to photograph it frown ), one side there were mixtures of pink, orange and yellow altocumulus/lenticular clouds and the other side was a line of pink cumulonimbus. We've had a fair amount of rain here so far with the total at 70.4mm.

Looks ominous at the moment - particularly on the ranges to the north - Barrington Tops, but intense rain is still yet to precipitate.

We've had quite a bit of cloud moving over us through the day. It seems to have lifted a bit, not so ominous now, but the radar shows the precip has crested the escarpment and is reaching inland. The E/SE wind has certainly kept at-it all day. Reckon the forecast's right, we are in for some moisture. Goody.

Wow, JWS it looks like the Turramurra Tornado did. Still residual pattern visible on doppler, but no 'away from radar' showing. That is probably a good thing, given land fall is imminent.

Bureau is on to it now...

"DAMAGING WINDS with peak gusts around 90 km/h are forecast for the coastal parts of Metropolitan forecast district during next 1-2 hours associated with outflow from heavy showers and possible water sprouts crossing the coast."
