Looks like that 90mm is an error, according to the bom's 24hrs to 9am, Nelson bay only recorded 50mm.
So im not sure what happened there!!

50.2mm in the 24 hrs to 9am in Tea Gardens, that brings the event total to 97.9mm.

Light rain on and off all night, but wind had eased right off, although still enough to be blowing it in the east side verandah. Very mild temperatures. Didn't check the tube, Canberra reported 1mm and I suspect I got a bit more as at various times, you could hear it drumming on the roof. But not enough for puddles. Forecast is for "rain" today and tomorrow, then it gets patchy and bet-hedging. Next week seems to start a general cool-down too, worse luck.

Suns out here now which I wasn't expecting, and the radars clear to the NE so nothing for a while here I’d expect.

Pouring here in Penrith. Looks like its all aboard the rain train for the next hour or so. North Parramatta ended up with 70mm to 9am and probably another 15-20 since then. AXS and GFS have the low bombing but remaining offshore (just) over the next 72hs. If it moves even 100km west things will get very interesting for the major catchments (if they havent already!)

Ooh actually felt some light drizzly spits outside. Just talking to someone who has been to Lithgow, said there's been solid rain there. Pretty much stopped at Yetholme as expected.

That's a very meaty looks area of convergence over Gosford at the moment, must be some ridiculous rain rates under that baby! No doubt the topography of the area is helping, could make it to the North Shore if it keeps back building and moving south.

Yeah not much here, about 6mm since it started last night. Still, timing was pretty spot on, things had just started to dry off and brown a little.

Hoping the next blob up near Dungog/Maitland has the legs, its positioning is a little better for us.

Good score at Gosford!

System is stretching over 1000km NE into the tasman so should be an easy 90-100mm for much of the metro today and tomorrow from the freight train of activity, plenty of flooding with it no doubt. Monsoonal rain on the northern beaches, it's even blocking out the echoes off the Hunter.

Also of interest are the 2 layers of steep lapse rates at 900hpa and 750hpa (25-30km/h ENE winds) reinforcing strong instability.

This thing is getting serious now, the escarpment's not even checking it going by the radar. We've had very light misty stuff all morning, but now someting a bit more substantial is getting going. If that stuff pushing through Sydney and 'Gong keeps coming, we in the inland shall indeed get wet.

Mild here (abut 12.5C) but wet, with nearly 50mm since last night.

Beautiful Whipbird at our back door just now, sitting in a bush, singing in the rain.

Since the downpour before 9am this morning we've been stuck in the area of nothing all day, and again more coming down from the north that's going to totally bypass this area again. Yawn, can someone wake me up when the action decides to start?

Lucky you, most areas are getting pounded. On the north shore here it's so dark you wouldn't think its 3:25pm and the rain monsoonal

Very dark here also, just without the rain unfortunately.

Here in Terrey Hills some downpours have been as heavy as i've seen. All driveways have been running like small rivers and gutters almost busting!

Cloud must be very thick, it's dark here too, feels like night-time almost. Raining steadily but I woudln't say torrential like on the coast.

Contemplated getting the kayak out for a gutter run this afternoon. Thought not after I saw a car washed sideways crossing the gutter next door..... We are on the ridge! Very heavy downpours - not the heaviest I've seen in 14 years, but close to it.

Been absolutely hammering down today, particularly the downpour around 1pm here was simply incredible. Some of the heaviest rain I've seen in near a decade at home, for a good sustained 15 minutes. We had around 80mm to 9am and a further 60mm since.
