feel sorry for the marchers today....They must of been freezing! so cold, then with rain and wind.

Flooding? saw a huge puddle at the shrine this morning but nothing else.....you need falls of like 100mm+ for even minor flooding right?

Where I am, we are ringed by creeks and causeways. With the sort of rains we've had, it doesn't take long for the volume of water in these waterways to rise quickly. It drains off fairly quickly, but when we get more rain passing through, the levels pick up again.
Here's a pic of some flooding after the first heavy rains. The water was up to road level.

Well not much rain here. But every drop counts at this time of the year. I can say it is absolutely freezing at the moment. Spent this afternoon wood gathering ready for the winter. Just finished dinner and quickly showered and into pj's ready to snuggle up to the fire and an evening of tv, Eldest is riddled with a shocking cold/ flue, has spent the last three hours curled up in the recliner fast asleep. So looks like this househole is already in for the flue season, I am sure that it will be passed onto more then one member of the household grrr.

It certainly has been bone chilling. Your eldest must be feeling miserable - poor thing. Though 'sharing' is a family thing - let's hope you don't get the lurgy too - it's very debilitating.

Hey Duckweather, is that Dandy Creek near Boronia Road, Boronia?
Looks familiar and a usual haunt when we get flash flooding.
Into the 70's (in terms of mm's) as persistent light showers have continued.

Terrific event.

7mm in my gauge at Maffra, a couple of showers up on the Strezleckiis this arvo on my trip back to Inverloch. It seems Central Gippy was stuck between great rain both sides for this event! Nevertheless, the area in looking nice and green.

A workmate, Scott went up to camp out on Mt BawBaw last night, taking a 2 wheel drive, hoping to get some decent snow photos. Thats weather dedication for ya!. I bet I get an interesting story or two tomorrow.

Oooh...so close Bulos wink
This is Blind Creek, which runs under Timothy Drive in Wantirna South. Which ends up meeting Dandy Creek near Chesterfield Farm near Ferntree Gully. But...yes Dandy Creek is also near me - running under Boronia Road.
All of these creeks and the causeways surrounding us were in full flood, with the water up to the roads (Boronia, Burwood Hwy, Wantirna, Timothy Drive etc...). The sound of the water flowing was lovely. Love hearing the frogs go beserk too. smile

SO, we've had an increase in birdlife and mozzies ever since Black Saturday. That and a neighbour who refuses to clean her pool in the last year also assists "mozzie development".

Up to 80mm for the event.

Cheers aussiestormfreak smile
As for the mozzies, I agree there is an increase at the moment. I call them helicopters - some are rather big, but flat after I've finished with them smile
I also noticed an influx of wildlife (a greater number) around here after Black Saturday, of all sorts.

only another 5 mm by yesterday morning - giving us about 23 mm for the month - 2/3 rds of the average - cant see us making average this month based on my readings but the AWS has us sitting 3.5 mm below average so not too bad. Overnight temps 1 degree below average and daytime currenlty warmer at 1.5 degrees above average. If predicted temps come to fruition for the rest of the month then we will have an above average daytime temp.

I'm hearing the calls of the Currawaong here as well now (and I love their call) - thats been a long time since we have had them in town - so getting colder up in the hills now.
