It was quite brilliant to watch at the end, full rainbow with a second trying to begin, the hail illuminated by sun. Thats the part I like most about storms.

Id say just from an estimate (it melted upon impact) 2cm. So considering it was a black core we were fairly lucky there.

Just got pummelled here. Horizontal rain, downdraft (?) lightning bolts and, considering I'm on top of a hill, had rivers of water coming and going from 'nowhere'.
The creeks/roads have got to be going like the clappers/flooding around us atm. crazy

Same here! We got smashed as well, my heaviest downpour since December 10th last year! smile

Not sure at this stage how much rain has been collected in my gauge, upwards of 20mm I'd say (rainfall rate peaked at 97.8mm/hr), blocked gutters, blustery winds, and some insane lightning! grin

What looked like being a wasted afternoon turned in to a great one! Was chasing tail on those Echuca area cells before deciding enough was enough and to head back home...thankfully the weather gods had a surprise in store, as we caught a beautifully structured sunlit cell at Elmore and then snagged a few lightning pics near Goornong! Great way to end the season.

Gonna have some dinner then process some photos..

A few showers early morning here followed by a mild overcast day with light NW'y.

By 5pm a period of weak storms developed and hung around for near an hour. Nothing of note.

The models collectively provide some decent rain for some Vic coastal areas mid next week. Not much consensus to just where, so it will be interesting to watch it all play out.

Can't really make that call purely from an updraft photo ;), its possible, though the dominant mode of the day remained multicellular there was the odd supercell (a split occured on that frame grab with a left and right mover, the left up near Beechworth). That return you see is unlikely to be a mesocyclonic return of a supercell but rather a downburst, with the broad scale doppler interface, especially given the reflectivity associated. Either way, a few frustrating lightning storms up here at Dederang...got a few teasing bolts and amazing activity which died when it moved into the viewing arcs I had available. Oh well...less than a month until real storms poke.

Just had a review of radar NW and West of Mansfield which may have corresponded to that updraft. Confirmable supercell down there, very strong couplet visible frames 175-190 of the following loop: (note 128km distance)
