I'm hoping it's a wet, cool dry season!

Cool weather I can handle but anything less than 15C is bloody freezing as far as i'm concerned.

Just became quite overcast here at the time of posting - wombles off to check radar - wombles back - nothing to get excited about it would seem.

Okay its Winter down south now. Our turn is Sunday morning with min of 16C for Townsville with possibly around 12C for the range and Woodstock area. Evenings will become refreshingly cool as we head to later of the week, maybe while watching the Dragons vs Cowboys match!

I am slowly freezing solid down here in Brisbane, and it's not even properly cold yet...

Should've gone to JCU I reckon.

Depressing, but hopefully the 'Dry' won't be as dry as we think.

Looking forward to some chilly nights!

Seeing as the Dry Season is so boring i have been doing some research over at Trove and for the last few weeks have been researching an incident which occured on Palm island in early 1930 Palm Island shootings thread in the Lounge.
Have a read and follow the link in teh first post of that thread to read the online newspaper reports. Sounds like the makings for a good book or movie.

What has this to do with this thread? Not much except that palm island was created after a cyclone destroyed the original reserve at Hull River 1918.

I'm going to keel bottom on Sunday night so it should be around the 10-12c mark up there.

Finally I have had the chance to damage from the tornado. Quite interesting to see that the damage extends through Aikenvale and into Annandale. Very little in the way of major structural damage in Aitkenvale though I did see roof damage (from memory) to one house (I would say damage is consistent with F0 damage - in Aitkenvale). Also interesting down along the river seeing, for example, one tree which has many branches damaged right next to a tree which looks fairly untouched. Of course, this is all old news to you guys!

Welcome to the 'dry season' once again folks! It's strange to think that (apart from the tornado), we have just come through a relatively quiet wet season - in terms of cyclones anyway - not a single one on this side of the continent worth getting excited about...

I for one am looking forward to 'bug-free' evenings, and being able to sleep comfortably under a doona!

I sleep comfortably under a doona most nights as SOTPM smile (she of the perpetual menopause - 8 years now and still glowing strong) or as I sometimes call her Mrs Madcow, has decided that aircons will be on at 24C so she can get a decent nights sleep.

Looks like I have another trip to Emerald comming up first weekend in June for a Christening this time.

Some spits of rain around Kirwan just after 12.30 this arvo but nothing at my place.

Sure did, obviously more damage in Vincent. Most things have been cleaned up now so it is difficult to get a real feel for things.

We came back through Vincent this arvo Trav and there is still a heck of a lot of houses with out roofs. Mrs SBT also spotted a bit of roofing iron still stuck up a gum tree too.
