Well I got more, 1.8mm here, 1.2mm in Bathurst ha ha. Pretty disappointing rain, the whole thing collapsed. Only yesterdays 00z showed this would happen

Thanks for sharing Mike! Yer no doubt that is was at least a funnel, and if you saw it touch the ground, then i'm more than confident that it did so.... well done!

Killer funnel Mike! - one day ill hopefully get to see one....

Had a great lightning active storm develop off the coast last night - had some amazing CG's and got some great shots - definitely wasn't expecting anything so good! Must be the new trough line developing offshore??

only got a chance to upload a few shots this morning as have to go to work

CG's and a Pipe - Offshore Storm 2/5/2012 by sixdegreesbelowthehorizon

Sea CG- Offshore Storm 2/5/2012 by sixdegreesbelowthehorizon

looks like there's still some instability around off the coast this morning....

Ha PD you were practically in flood compared to here!! smile

Very disappointing result because 10mm would be nice atm just to top up the topsoil.

That funnel cloud reminded me of several like that I saw a few years ago in the Wee Waa/Narrabri area when I was living up there. Over 6 years I reckon I must have seen 4 or 5 at a bit of a distance, sadly never a camera on hand and our mobiles then didn't have cameras either.

With the number of phones around now we should hopefully see more of them. Well done Mike.

Hey 6DBTH - excellent photos as usual.

ANT in a previous life I was often on Dash 8's to and from Narrabri/Syd - noisy creaky things but they do actually get you there. smile Although many a very bumpy landing in Narrabri/Moree due to the heat. We also used to skip only a thousand feet or so above the ground to get to Moree. Good view.

Great shots 6DBTH, I'd given up by the time it sparked up. Got a few shots but haven't looked through any of them yet.

Thanks guys - Totally caught me off guard with its intensity - I've got some other great shots which ill upload tomorrow..

From my basic understanding of the charts it didn't really seam like too much was likely, ie low cape, nothing exceptional on LI, ok shear - ive seen much better setups with nothing eventuate...

Great shots 6DBTH, I was watching it fire up last night from where I was. I regret not going up to the headland now, just being lazy again.

I was just grumpy as we snaffled the flight at the last minute, it was full of huge blokes in smelly suits and I missed out on my usual window seat. With interesting weather outside, I wanted to look at it! I used to prefer Dash 8s as they fly lower and you can stickybeak at the ground, although being up high is fun too, as at one point in the trip, you can see the sea AND where Canberra is.

Those lightning shots are amazing, we shan't see another storm for months most likely.

Quite chilly here now, we didn't get much, my tube had barely 4mm in it, and the air has that semi-winter chill. Tree colourage is gearing up to full bore however, yellow and red and orange everywhere!

I knew you'd get some shots 6DBTH, great stuff as usual.
I saw some flashes through my blinds at home and was so tempted to go to the headland but i was just about ready to crash, with the wife hounding me that it was bedtime too (ha) so i missed out! Plus still haven't charged my camera since a recent shoot. I Saw a couple of great cg's before beddy by's though! smile Wish it was a bit earlier when it exploded.

Today has been what seemed like a very mild sunny day, did not seem to be any chill at all, I say seemed because the temperature vanished at sunset rather suddenly. Now its probably the coldest evening of the autumn and a reasonable frost on the ground already at 1.9deg screen and -4 grass.

0 forecast for Canberra tonight, and outside it's moist enough to make the deck all damp. We'll see how the nasturtiums are in the morning.

Well I think BOM got that wrong, a chilly -1.4C here in Monash at 05:00 & I expect the airport & Tuggers will be even colder as they usually are...
Brrrr!!

Make that -2.5ºC with the radiation lag effect now that the sun is up! There will be some little pockets that will be colder, esp on the shady side of Black Mountain. Bring on winter i say..... can't wait for the first decent snow fall in the hills, i'll be doing some trips up there for sure:)

Just noticed Bathurst AP dropped to -2.7c at about 6:30 this morning. Man thats cold for early May out on the CT's, not exactly record breaking but certainly on the chilly side.

Lowest for the year for Bathurst, but up here -0.7 which is equal lowest for the year and equal with April 10th.

Indeed DG good frost here his morning. Going to be interesting to see what the "official" temp is, should be a bit colder than the airport reading.

I know that it was fresh in the shorts and polo shirt at tennis last night. Had ice on the car roof and screen at 9.45 when I was going home.

It will be a stunning day here today (again)!!! This truly is the time of year for settled sunny days and cold nights. Yesterday in the sun it "felt" quite warm but the air temp only got to about 16 - it feels much warmer than that though when you get in the sunshine.

Official says -3 but it will probably fine tune later as it seems to.

It's a pity we don't have a good weather station down in the low parts of town - we would see colder readings then.
