Yes a sad day indeed. He will probably be replaced with someone who has a great head for TV and little or no knowledge of the weather. I hope I'm wrong but unless they can get another BoM trained weather person I think their weather service will degenerate into the waffle we see on other channels (not including 7).
Volunteered to put up Mrs nextdoors garden shed - yes I bought teh snap together one - except on opening teh carton I am confronted by 220 tek screws 6 rivets and an instruction maual 25 pages thick. Just as well it doesn't look like raining for the next few days.

What a classic SBT, have fun with that shed. You don't think there is any rain on the horizon?

Nah and still 220 tek screws in the packet - took 4 hours to sort out the numbering on the parts. It would be a cinch to put up if it was in Chinglish, unfortunately the mongrels that wrote teh manual used english and I can't work it out so i really hope we don't get any rain for a few days.

Well the shed is 3/4 up. Just teh last 3 roof panels to go on it. Only dropped 100screws, need about 36 more to finsih the job off and the packet still has about 60 left in it. Going to go lawn fishing with my home made "old farts magnet", hard drive magnet on a length of hootchie cord that I drag over the ground because I am too sore to bend over.
So no rain for the next 24 hours please. Bloody dodgy Ozito hammer drill crapped itself earlier today so off to Bunnings tomorrow to check out a new one, might pick up some other stuff to.
Looking at a second Nylex for the backyard, water crystals for the garden beds (because I have a feeling in my water that we won't see any real rain until December), some mulch and probably at least 1 3 ton tipper of top soil for the lawns. Might look at some new leaf gaurds for the gutters too.

So do the water crystals work SBT,looks like a long dry coming up. How dangerous are whip snakes to dogs ? anyone know. Greyhound just had an altercation and I think he may have been bitten. Whip snake now in about 7 pieces.

I know if a person gets bitten you won't die, but I would be worried about a dog or a small child.

Thanks Trav, He is still alive,I think it may have just got him slightly, leg quite swollen in lower part but he seems OK, no vomiting or anything he is a greyhound so is a pretty big dog. Might ring vet anyway and see what they say, I think he would be dead already if it was going to happen. looks like a long dry season coming up,hope we get some rain for the gardens through the season, hate using sprinklers.

Yes they work well Maise. Bung them in and then mulch over the top, water and they swell up and hold water which the plants can access later on via their roots. Been using them for years. You might have to top them up after about 6 months but the work very well in hanging baskets. Shed is up and roof in place. So as far as I'm concerned it can rain now. Just have to fit the cyclone kit, hah probably could leave that for 2 or 3 years or more before we need that. Mr Defor Dog should get a steak for dinner tomorrow.

Been absolutely gorgeous weather here on Hbay, sunsets outstanding , fullmoon rising over Florence Bay yesterday sunset time was fantastic, albeit a tad windy !!! Thanks SBT,I will get some of the water crystals, sounds like a good idea. They are fantastic and if you soak them in seasol first , they fertilize at the same time. I live where my gardens are sand so I have to really compost and put loads of water crystals in as prep and constant topups, as SBT pointed out they are really good in hanging baskets.

Anyone hear about the car accident last night at the lakes? I see a few friends on Facebook say that a car was wrapped around a pole?

Can't find any info on that crash Trav, but plenty on the Townsville Crime Alerts and Discussions page about a crash at Wulguru. Stolen car with 4 youths arrested at scene.

And Happy Birthday from me too Sookenhenri Recoverying from yesterdays shed erection. Somehow hurt my neck. Wheat bag, heat and cold packs helping a bit but too sore to do much today. Cyclone kit can wait a few days anyway. Not much chance of one springing up anytime soon, unless I get a realy realy big Dyson vacuum cleaner.

Beautiful weekend up at Rollingstone caravan park at the beach. Just glorious. A little bit of cloud cover would have been nice to take some heat out of the rays, but I guess you can't have everything.
I missed Burnsie's hoorah :-(

I had to read this bit twice. My shed's in a bit of a sad state, a makeshift shelving unit constructed out of Pallet wood (not chep that cheap crap) is starting to give way.... But at least you can walk in there now. Did a sprinkler check and clean, they are ready for action... Might stick a TV on the wall out the back, take the focus of the gardens that seem to look like they haven't seen water in a few months. The only thing we now have to look forward to is bright sunny days, wearing socks under the thongs while madly dashing to the garbage truck driving down the road with the wheelie bin across the wet grass because it was too cold last night/early morning to do it, and BBQ's... that's if its not blowing a gale from the southerly's. Saw a cloud today.

Plenty of pallets around if you know where to look like behind the Joyce Mayne warehouse and Bunnings at Fairfieldwaters gives them away for free. Some good hardwood ones (not Chep) just sitting there or in a big skip. Yes I did ask and they are OK with me taking a couple. By teh looks of it some of them have been there since the place opened. I normally build shelves out of old single bed frames. I used to be able to pick them up for about $5.00 each at the old Thuringowa Dump recyle shop but it is all up market now. The shed is Mrs Nextdoors. One of those zincalume jobbies. 4 sheets of alfoil thick but with the supplied cyclone kit it is supposed to be rated at W40C so we will see. Mind you another 450 extra Tek Screws in the kit I'm thinking the weight of the screws alone will stop it from moving, 20 dyna bolts and brackets and its a piddling little 3 x 2.3m shed.

I see a few friends on Facebook say that a car was wrapped around a pole? sorry Trav, i havent been on the forum all day. the car as wrapped around a palm tree on the centre traffic island. the firies had to remove the entire roof from the vechicle to get the driver out. last i heard he was in a critical condition in hospital. the shots were on the local news tonight, if you had watched it!!
