Well I'm getting there....I should be submitting my thesis soon!! Some more corrections remain but hopefully after that there won't be many changes required. Still quite a lot of work ahead of me (supervisors corrections, submission, examiners corrections etc) but I can see the light after being stuck in a long, dark tunnel. Provided everything goes well, I should be Dr MC Thomas by the end of the year I think. Won't make me any smarter, though it sounds pretty cool .

Edits to my three research chapters are done! Still need to redo my figures for the last chapter as they are quite poor (adobe illustrator should fix it). Intro still needs work unfortunately. Honestly, I hate the intro....I really hate the intro.......so much work. In comparison the three research chapters were easy...dead easy......just write about stuff you have done.....no worries. Hopefully... fingers crossed... toes, legs and arms crossed...I can submit soon so I can concentrate on doing science again!

I do hope your spelling in your thesis is better than the title of this thread - The expression is "wet sail" meaning to struggle in to port with wet canvas sails, little wind and at a slow speed. Not selling something in the rain. Although reading one of my sons friends draft thesis I worked out after 3 pages that the entire thesis was a mechanical engineering essay expounding on the use of the wrong sized screws, nuts and bolts for antenna installations on domestic houses. 300 pages boiled down to "Use the right fasteners or the antenna will fall down" BTW it was accepted at the first reading.

Scott, thanks for your kind words. I am studying in the area of mass spectrometry/chemistry, in particular, the analysis of lipids (fats and oils).
SBT- I hope so too. Thanks for the correction. Spelling has never been a particularly strong area of mine. I am, however, a lot more careful proof reading something that is being submitted for publication than before hitting the "submit" on weatherzone.

Finished the revisions on the thesis yesterday. Finally. It will still take a while before I can submit but at least its semi-complete and I can now put my mind to other things.
I will have to now assess my future career propects. Unfortunately the long time it has taken for me to complete has probably hurt my "career development." Oh well, we will see what the future holds.

Excellent news - time for a beer and a bit of down time.
