Bathurst topped out at 23 as well Homer - we had 23 degrees for 3 days in a row. Given our May record is 24 this was therefore a very warm spell for us.
SB - I'm starting to realise your music awareness is pretty extensive.

Thanks for mentioning that shower Seabreeze, I did see some virga up here also, but for it to hit the ground as a shower on the central coast is very surprising and well worth noting.

Yes the old lenticular cloud is back, I can see it on the sat pic.
Nice and mild sunny up here, much cooler but still very pleasant.

I thought maybe the BOM had done an epic mega-fail this morning, it was sunny and pleasant inside, ventured onto the deck, sunny and pleasant there, the air was a tad crispish but it was warm. Then viewed the console... 10c outside! Oh-kay. Weird, I guess the May sun has some power, and if you're out of the moving wind, it's warm.
Looks like tomorrow's the only real front-ish day. The wind has been racking up the past few hours, with some quite fierce gusts and then it settles down again.

Yes, wind is starting to pick up here also, very icy wind too, screen is +2 grass -2. Max was only 10 in the end so pretty cool and cooler tomorrow. This rain situation is starting to worry me a little, looked in the tank today and it was a bit lower than I was expecting. Looks like some water rationing is in order about now before things get worse. Looking like this will be a near bone dry month too. Winter fronts may still be nearly 2 month away. But if we get a dryish winter as well and then El Nino developing things could get a lot worse. Not expecting a frontless winter so fingers crossed I will be right.

I suspect it was probably a bit of short-lived mid level convection that was able to get enough go in it to produce a localised shower (would've barely wet the pavement/road if it came over a person's house), but enough for two 'wipes' of the wipers over that short distance. If I wasn't driving at the time, I would've angled my head to skies above for a better look, lol.
Cool and a bit breezy while visiting Moss Vale / Bowral today. Some nice autumnal colours in places about the region too.
Heading to Canberra tomorrow. Looks like it'll be a breezy, cool to cold day with perhaps a couple of showers about (snow above 1500m). A shame there aren't any sealed roads up to the peaks of the higher mountains in the ACT. Might be worth a little detour out to Corin Dam if it is looking a bit showery, with the road that goes there rising up to about 1250m at the highest.

Somthing odd ATM on the Newcastle radar - it seems to be showing a system of rain moving south west through Cessnock - which doesn't add up given the westerly winds. Then the Sydney radar shows a band offshore rain moving north-east, but doesn't show the Cessnock system. It is almost as if the Newcaslte image is appearing in reverse!

I have just been puzzling over this myself, however have come to the conclusion that someone has loaded images from some other time maybe weeks ago. It simply makes no sense given the sat pic and other readings.

Got a few showers today, and they had that snow-showers quality, zoomed in from left field with wind, did their thing and next minute it was sunny again. Then more showers appeared from seemingly nowhere.
heading just below zero outside now, with the left-over moisture, it's truly bitter.

An unseasonally cool run of minima is forecast for a large part of southern NSW. Normally you'd expect the maxima to be above average given the conditions that will produce these low minima, but they'll only be hovering around average temps (well for Wagga and the Riverina at least).

My lowest min so far this year this morning of -1.2. But Canberra -4.7 is pretty cold. Certainly a cool frosty week coming up. Should not be any above average temps here either, 850 temps are near 5 most of the week, so that is cool.

A low of -3.0C in mid May is certainly a cold one, what's with the airport's -4.7C in mid May! I think the average for May is supposed to be around +5.0C or is my memory letting me down? Cheers Teddy
Edit Just checked Canberra airport's long term records the av min is 3.2C, so that's nearly 8C below av Brrr!!
4.1c the minimum here in Penrith. Next week or so shaping up to be Average maximums with well below average minimums. Still very dry this last month as well, a few showers wouldnt go astray at some stage. Currently only 1.4mm MTD.

I've been thinking it's cooler than it "should be" for May too, nice to see that confirmed. It seemed to warm up again last night, around 11pm-ish it was up around 3c, and same this morning. Nasturtiums were all still OK so no frost, however down below the house in the shade, there was frost in the garden, so the cold air must have been flowing down the hill and sparing things that aren't where the cold air stops.
As soon as the sun got going, it felt warmer than the 6c the Wx console was claming. It certainly feels too cold when you're looking at trees still doing the autumn leaves thing, but you're feeling winter temperatures.
