Spending today just staying in Goulburn finishing off an assessment task. Went to Canberra yesterday but got tied up with commitments so no time to look around. There was a very fine drizzle when we left Goulburn and onto the Hume Highway, which increased to a more consistent drizzle as we headed down the Federal Highway. The drizzle cleared around Collector, and the cloud cleared up somewhat too. The temperature was cool in Canberra but I didn't think it was overly cold. It didn't rain/drizzle for the four hours or so (10am-2pm) that I was in Canberra, the sky alternating between being partly cloudy and mostly cloudy. As we were driving back to Goulburn, I could see a decent line of showers to the SE behind Lake George. They looked like they'd be producing snow on the very highest peaks about the SE region. Goulburn felt cooler than Canberra when we returned about 3pm, and the wind was also stronger, which made it feel wintry.
Quite cold overnight in Goulburn, falling to -3.6ºC.

Heading back down to Canberra tomorrow but this time I won't have any commitments, so I can play tourist. Forecast to be a mild 16ºC there tomorrow.

It is soooo cold up here in Katoomba. 9.9 degrees I gather but it feels colder. Heater and fire on the go, and can't get rid of the chill. Is there any snow predicted? I was sure I was seeing snow clouds on Saturday, but we were hovering at about 8 degrees, no lower. I want snow!

As of the end of today my May mean temp should be quite close to normal despite the few warm days earlier. Currently +0.3, but by late evening should be back to +0.1 or +0.2. Tomorrow may just fall marginally below average if its a cold enough night.

I find BOM's forecast mins for Canberra of -2 for the next few days a bit hard to believe. Try another -5 tonight if not colder if perfect light winds and clear sky. By around Thursday will be just as cold once under the centre of the high. As a safe forecast you could go mostly -3 or -4 over the next few days.

I agree Pete, it's going to be cold one tonight. Had a great frost this morning and expect a repeat tomorrow for sure.

Weird weather. Today out in the sunshine, it was downright hot. The May sun still has some strength, and if there's no wind, it feels about normal. The minute the sun sets though, with the clear windless air, the thermometer will plummet. I don't think my nasturtiums will survive the week.

2.5c here now after a cool max of 7.6c & an overnight min of 0.3c
Cold max typical of my sheltered backyard on calm days like today.
Completely still outside so we might drop below zero which isn't that common due to the wind in my location.
Six below zero minimums last winter & Eight in 2010.
We get a LOT of minimums in the 0-2c range between May & September.

That is nuts 7.6 max?. That is surprising that it can be that cool where you are Aslaws. Your location must be like a few spots I remember in the Barrington Tops on some high shady ridges just below the plateau where you also had cool temps hugging the side of a hill on clear inversion type days. One spot is just below the Corker on the way to Carry's Peak only at about 1100m elevation, but very shady and often holds frost there all day long on these sort of days, so effectively a winter permafrost.

That is cold for Homebush, I Notice Olympic Park is only 7deg too.

1.2 here and -4 on grass, thick frost outside.

One day when I have the money I would love to stick another weather station on the east side of the house. I reckon it would be colder in the mornings but warmer by day on calm days like this. Would be a fascinating comparison.

2.1c here now - cooling has slowed - zero might be a bit much to ask here on the ridge.

5c outside here, with a 8.5 km/hr southerly blowing. If that keeps up, it might prevent a frost, or blow it away.

Must be a pretty good frost on the NT's, low -7 at Glen Innes, I would expect Armidale town around -5 or -6 at least. Canberra -5 again as expected. Bathurst -4 and coldest for the year so far, maybe colder at Ag.
The Monaro must have a low cloud bank sitting over it, that sometimes happens.

Only -0.9 low up here and in fact the temp has been rising last few hours in the clear sky due to cold air falling away into the valleys. But ground still in thick frost, currently +0.1.
