Latest very early climatic guidance suggests:
(1) El Nino to develop in the next few months and then stick around until at least early next year. However local SST anomalies won't be too drastic come November/December and thus we wouldn't be expecting drought conditions just an overall below average to average season bought upon by the overall Walker circulation shift.
(2) Below average build up in terms of rainfall in the Sep - Nov period with upper ridging over inland northern Oz and troughing over the Coral Sea (quite similar set up to Sep - Nov last year)
It's too early to talk cyclones but the troughing in the Coral Sea in November/December is a worry yet again.
The Northern Hemisphere cyclone season should be slightly below average particularly around the USA/Mexico's west and east coasts due to increase in VWS due to developing stages of an el-nino. Asian typhoon season should be closer to average.
Anyway it's very early days and I'm sure things will change re. the upper pattern/prognosis I'm not sure if we can avoid an el-nino though.
As for the rest of this month, it looks fine and dry - perhaps some showers returning in the last week or so of June for the typical "North of Rollingstone" The good news is that we shouldn't see any real cold snaps either 11-16 mins and 23 - 26 max's beautiful weather.

Yes there where 4 or 5 pulled up or about to pull in just as we left Mick. Looked pretty tired and covered in red dust and a bit of mud. Lots of horns and laughs though so they where still having a good time.
Bloody cold down this way.
Jumpers on most of the day and Ugh Boots on after 4.30pm.
Emerald looks great but I wouldn't want to live here.

It's not that bad, but I do recall saying to my husband 7 years ago we are doing our three years and leaving! Here I am still in Emerald.

I don't have anything against Emerald but all our family is back in Townsville. Mrs SBT is starting to get itchy feet and wants a move closer to Brisbane for some reason. She possibly could talk me into it sometime in the next 3 or 4 years but I'm not that keen to move. I suppose I could put up with having to live in say Toowoomba for a couple of year but the novelty of cold weather would soon wear off. Not planning on moving for a few years just yet though. Another nice day day down here, cold mornings but brillant sunshine.

I thought our radar was full of it. Have a look at Emerald radar. I 3 klm from it, there isn't anything in the sky apart from a couple of dump ducks yet the radar is showing random green blotches very close to it. Must have a sprinkler on or something.

Finally back in Townsville after the road trip from heck, OK it wasn't that bad but being stuck behind a wide load for a hour with no chance to pass was literally a pain in the bum.
Thanks Emerald for the great weather, a top party and being given a new swear word - Greynads - means fn grey nomad bastrads or something along those lines and I fully agree with the sentinemt. You pension might not cover you driving at 110kph but if thats the speed limit then do it or risk a fine. Mongrels.

Umm i don't think Greynads is a swear word it just boils down to the laziness of the younger generation to pronounce a full word! a bit like the word "chillax" a combination of the words chillout and relax, same as grey nomads put the 2 together and you get greynads.... I wonder if any of them realize that the words they love to use so much like "Cool" and "Chillout" were actually coined in the '50's so they are coining phrases that their Greaynads were using when they were young!
