Heard about it on the late local news Mick ans Trav. From what I saw it looks like a case of heavy right foot disorder vs immovable plant. Harsh lesson if this is the case he was showing off.
No rain again overnight - but a bit of excitement on teh west coast with them importing an Indonesian Cyclone just because they can.

Dry and usual autumn weather out here, not bad for getting into the garden. Dog surviving snake bite is all the excitement I have had this week.

Good to hear Maise. He was only doing what he instinctively thought was the right thing to do and greyhounds are natural hunters after all. Nice day today, warmish without being too hot, gardens are doing extremley well after the back neighbours accidently left their bore running for 5 hours (we are allowed to tap into the main line) so the entire yard got a bloody good soaking. Lawns, Garden beds etc.

The shed is Mrs Nextdoors. One of those zincalume jobbies. 4 sheets of alfoil thick but with the supplied cyclone kit it is supposed to be rated at W40C so we will see. Mind you another 450 extra Tek Screws in the kit I'm thinking the weight of the screws alone will stop it from moving, 20 dyna bolts and brackets and its a piddling little 3 x 2.3m shed.
I built one of these crappy little flimsy doored mitre 10 green colourbond alfoil sheds for a customer of mine a couple of years ago.. It was 4.5 x 3m and I had to mix up some concrete to add to the existing 3 x 3 slab then try and figure out how to put the silly thing up ... What I'd really like to know is who actually invented the idea of erecting the cladding first and then trying to add a structure inside..??..man what a PITA that was.. The major problem with these cheap sheds is the amount of time it takes to figure them out and put in all the required screws..` Anyway it was right on the top of a hill on the outskirts of Tully and the owners besserblock home received about 65 grand in damage from Cyclone Yasi and today, the first time since Yasi, I was in the dopey low roofed tinfoil shed with the dynabolted down internal cyclone frame and it was still totally straight and solid.. So as much as I hate, loath and totally despise these wimpy excuses for a shed, and believe that just like roller doors they should be banned in cyclone regions, this one actually did stand up, without a scratch, to Cyclone Yasi.. Moral of the story SBT is get that bloody cyclone frame in it before you fill it up with "stuff" and even though you could probably punch your fist through the tinfoil roof and walls it should stand up to anything that is thrown at it..even a cat 5 cyclone...( but I wouldnt recommend really throwing anthing at it as even a tennis ball would probably dent it..you might get away with a ping pong ball though) Anyway at least its somewhere to store the mower .. Yes our puny 3x3 metre shed lasted about 6 hours during Yasi before one branch about 3 cms in diametere hit my shed wall right on a join and it opened up like a sardine can. Dyna bolts held about 10 cms of wall down on the concrete slab but the rest I emu bobbed out of the back neighbours yard the next day.
This one, the cyclone kit comprises all sorts of goodies but not going to be fitted until Friday at this stage. I am also making a shelving system out of scrap steel and that will get bolted to the wall and concrete slab as well. The bloke behind me's shed (exactly teh same as my old one)during Yasi was secured to the bare dirt by a single rope over the top and no damage and everthing stayed water tight inside. I just can't win.

Nil rain overnight. Quite cool this morning, nice. No ceiling cyclones required this morning.

Only excitement out here today was another visit by yet another Black Whip Snake.

Did anyone see the helicopter hovering around last night with a search light on it? I think it might have been over Garbutt way, maybe the Common? I think it was around 6pm or so.

Boomer. Some sleazebag backdoored a code injection into the forum. This is sometimes done as part of a signature. i.e. plant a link in your signature to link to an external wbesite that has some embedded code.
I'm not sure what they where trying to do but it stuffed up the forum for a while.
Quite windy last night - smell of smoke in the air again this morning. Not sure what the chopper was doing last night but plenty of reports hooning last night or it could have been the same ones driving all over Vincent/Gulliver/Kirwan

Nice day again today although the town is starting to get a faint brown tinge to it. Hopefully we might see some light rainage this time next week.
Almost time to start getting the maroon jumpers out.

Sure is quiet in here today.
No weather = no chatter. oh well waffle time.
Bought a laser colour printer today. Have wanted one for a while but now we can make water decals (heck is that an expensive paper to buy in Australia or what) for my wife, Kathy's candles as well as some of my woodstuff. Including custom names, for baptisms, birthdays, christenings, weddings and even for funerals for babies (yes we have seen a couple of requests for these already on a FB page which is pretty sad) graduations etc.
Bloody windy and the smoke is faintly wafting through the house. Pollen count must be pretty high as my eyes are playing up again. I hope it drops by tomorrow morning or I will need a dose of Claratyne to get me through the day. Oh well al, I can look forward to is teh westerlies and the dust I suppose. Roll on November. I should have been issued a hibernation switch at birth or something.

Great weather here on Maggi Island...finally started the walkway over the Nelly/Arcadia hill, will take 6 months and the Picnic Bay pier is also being repaired ,all happening here on the island. The grass on the edges along the roads are also starting to get brown so maybe that weather that OCF is predicting for further up north may come down here a bit and give us at least 5mm.
Gosh I can remember one year, forgot which year it was maybe 1998/1999 that we got some wicked amount of rain in August (sons birthday) and everyone was astounded, you never know and remember 2010, got decent rain every month of that winter, the grass did not dry out that year.

You've got a good memory Joc! Between May and October 1998 Townsville received 508mm, 258.2mm falling in August.

Between May and October 1998 Townsville received 508mm, 258.2mm falling in August. you don't forget a bunch of crazed under 7yr old boys in the house because it rained so hard that afternoon ,we were supposed to take them out (I think it was paint balling) instead we had them inside for an hour before quickly taking them 10 pin bowling ....it never rains in August not hard anyway but wow 258mm in August 1998, I knew it was something outrageous . It's raining in Horseshoe Bay started like drizzle as seen in the pic , raining harder now ,we'll get a couple of mm out of this, with the complimentary mozzies no doubt !!!!
