OK, CB you are a "God-like all intelligent person" and a law to yourself! You are always right. You know the all the "facts". Therefore, I need not ever talk to you ever again then, as what is the point!
I will talk to humble folk who appreciate that they can learn, may be wrong at times, but are willing to adjust to new data and new learning. Who are open to find out new things. Who like to question "facts" to see if they are really true. Humble folk who learn from experience, who talk kindly and nicely...that is who I will talk on the threads with. You said: "OK, CB you are a "God-like all intelligent person" and a law to yourself! You are always right." You may think that BD but the fact is that you are incorrect! You may also think that I know all the facts, but the fact is once again you are incorrect! Looking forward to talking with you here on the threads BD.

Connecting the Dots: How Climate Change is Fueling Western WildfiresWestern wildfires are dominating headlines in June – but the media coverage focuses only on effects while ignoring a major cause. We hear about an increase in the number and intensity of wildfires. And separately, we hear about ongoing global warming, like how May was the 2nd-hottest on record globallybehind only May 2010. Why aren’t those dots being connected? There’s compelling evidence that talking about western wildfires without mentioning climate change is like talking about lung cancer without mentioning cigarettes. I want to walk you through what’s happening out west right now, what the latest science tells us about why it’s happening, how it’s affecting people and wildlife in the region, and what we can do about it. The Latest Major FiresThe consequences of carbon pollution are immediately apparent to residents of Colorado this week. More than 52,000 acres of forest have burned since lightning started the High Park Fire on June 9. Smoke has been wafting over Fort Collins, as stands of pines have been going up in dramatic blazes. The fire is already the second largest in the state’s history, exceeded only by the 2002 Hayman Fire. Of course, the High Park Fire is only 15% contained, so it may well take the leader spot in the days to come. In the meantime, New Mexico is in the midst of fighting the largest wildfire in its history. The Whitewater-Baldy Complex Fire has already burned nearly 300,000 acres, mostly in the Gila National Forest. This fire comes on the heels of the Las Conchas Fire last summer, which ranked as the largest New Mexico wildfire at the time. What’s worse, heavy rainstorms after the fire was extinguished led to major flooding and erosion. Sediment and ash were washed downstream into the Rio Grande, affecting drinking water for Albuquerque, the largest city in New Mexico. Climate change is literally fueling these and other major fires in western states. In fact, Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona, and Texas have all had fires since last year that ranked as one of the two largest in their histories (see table). The frequency and extent of fires in recent decades is unlikely to happen under natural conditions. With one catastrophic fire after another, it is clear that something quite different is happening to our forests. http://blog.nwf.org/2012/06/connecting-the-dots-how-climate-change-is-fueling-western-wildfires/

Yesterday I sat in a classroom fixing a teachers laptop network connectivity issues where 8 years olds pulled apart a newspaper story that verged on the same issues as yours and their conclusion was that the 'reporter' had no idea what he was writing about. Does my heart good to see even 8 year olds find issue with news when it is as poorly reported as this.

"E.M. Smith over at the blog Musings from the Chiefio earlier this month posted an analysis comparing versions 1 and 3 of the GHCN (Global Historical Climate Network) data set. WUWT readers may remember a discussion about GHCN version 3 here. He described why the GHCN data set is important: There are folks who will assert that there are several sets of data, each independent and each showing the same thing, warming on the order of 1/2 C to 1 C. The Hadley CRUtemp, NASA GIStemp, and NCDC. Yet each of these is, in reality, a ‘variation on a theme’ in the processing done to the single global data set, the GHCN. If that data has an inherent bias in it, by accident or by design, that bias will be reflected in each of the products that do variations on how to adjust that data for various things like population growth ( UHI or Urban Heat Island effect) or for the frequent loss of data in some areas (or loss of whole masses of thermometer records, sometimes the majority all at once). He goes on to discuss the relative lack of methodological analysis and discussion of the data set and the socio-economic consequences of relying on it. He then poses an interesting question: What if “the story” of Global Warming were in fact, just that? A story? Based on a set of data that are not “fit for purpose” and simply, despite the best efforts possible, can not be “cleaned up enough” to remove shifts of trend and “warming” from data set changes, of a size sufficient to account for all “Global Warming”; yet known not to be caused by Carbon Dioxide, but rather by the way in which the data are gathered and tabulated?… …Suppose there were a simple way to view a historical change of the data that is of the same scale as the reputed “Global Warming” but was clearly caused simply by changes of processing of that data. Suppose this were demonstrable for the GHCN data on which all of NCDC, GISS with GIStemp, and Hadley CRU with HadCRUT depend? Suppose the nature of the change were such that it is highly likely to escape complete removal in the kinds of processing done by those temperature series processing programs?…. ................What Is Found What is found is a degree of “shift” of the input data of roughly the same order of scale as the reputed Global Warming. The inevitable conclusion of this is that we are depending on the various climate codes to be nearly 100% perfect in removing this warming shift, of being insensitive to it, for the assertions about global warming to be real. Simple changes of composition of the GHCN data set between Version 1 and Version 3 can account for the observed “Global Warming”; and the assertion that those biases in the adjustments are valid, or are adequately removed via the various codes are just that: Assertions…. Smith then walks the reader through a series of comparisons, both global and regional and comes to the conclusion: Looking at the GHCN data set as it stands today, I’d hold it “not fit for purpose” even just for forecasting crop planting weather. I certainly would not play “Bet The Economy” on it. I also would not bet my reputation and my career on the infallibility of a handful of Global Warming researchers who’s income depends on finding global warming; and on a similar handful of computer programmers who’s code has not been benchmarked nor subjected to a validation suite. If we can do it for a new aspirin, can’t we do it for the U.S. Economy writ large?" http://wattsupwiththat.com/2012/06/21/chiefio-smith-exqamines-ghcn-and-finds-it/#more-66053

Interesting article but it seems flawed when you take the following into account... The Berkeley Earth Surface Temperature study used over 39,000 unique stations, which is more than five times the 7,280 stations found in the Global Historical Climatology Network Monthly data set (GHCN-M) and it matches up very well with all the others NOAA, GISS, HadCRUT.

Peter Voser, Global CEO of Shell spoke to the 7:30 Report last night on the need for countries to price carbon. Well let me first say that Shell as a company is actually very much advocating that we need a price for carbon on a worldwide basis and we want that to be on a market mechanism. So for years actually Shell has included in all their projects a carbon price of $40 a tonne, so from that point of view we take a very long-term view that the carbon will be priced and needs therefore to be covered in our profitability in the projects.

Jo Nova takes credit for the BoM's new ACORN data set. According to her, the BoM created an entirely new surface temperature record data set because they were terrified of being audited after a request was sent to the Australian National Audit Office by herself, Cory Bernadi, Ken Stewart et al. Serious question now...does anyone actually believe her?

Looking at the GHCN data set as it stands today, I’d hold it “not fit for purpose” even just for forecasting crop planting weather. The USHCN is not any better. In 1999 Hansen proclaimed that: [Quote]Yet in the U.S. there has been little temperature change in the past 50 years, the time of rapidly increasing greenhouse gases — in fact, there was a slight cooling throughout much of the country…By the satellites, from 2000, US has cooled further. And hence on those assumptions, one should be able to make the argument that the US has not have warmed since mid last century. And conveniently all the separately collected raw data from Hadley (which would have allowed us to confirm GHCN / USHCN accuracy is gone… “We, therefore, do not hold the original raw data but only the value-added (i.e. quality controlled and homogenized) data” . http://www.cru.uea.ac.uk/cru/data/availability/Enter USHCN (and GISS) adjusters. And HadCrut4 is now principally using USHCN… is it a surprise everyone is now in furious agreement that US has gone from record to record? climatezience! And if anyone is interested, from here you can access BEST data: http://berkeleyearth.org/source-files/

Serious question now...does anyone actually believe her? OH MY GOD! She actually wanted to confirm the provenance and accuracy of the data? How dare she! We are NOT ALLOWED TO QUESTION - BUT BELIEVE BELIEVE BELIEVE what the custodians of the truth tell us. Repeat after me: We are all wrong, we are not worthy, please take my money...

Can't see any joke or sense in that at all, Cosmic, just rubbish post there mate, U have a strange sense of humour, & that post is unlike your normal ones. At the time I was thinking that CeeBee said he/she doesn’t know all that facts, etc., etc. I thought I could see where the post was coming from because (in a sort of back-to-front way) (I thought) that was what was being expressed. As I’m not taking sides in this debate, and am quite frankly sick of the whole bandwagon idea, I thought I’d raise a bit of humour on the fact that debate is not “settled” – which it is not (from what I can tell). I even put in a conditional “(…)” just to indicate I wasn’t being too serious. I could be wrong because others here might have better information than I do, but as far as I can tell, the debate goes on (for those interested). Hope that clarifies .

The Economist: 'World Would Be Mad to Ignore' Global WarmingFrom the top of the world come troubling new reports this week over the widening impact of climate change. Vast reaches of Arctic sea ice are gone for good, along with huge glacial caps in Greenland. "It is a stunning illustration of global warming, the cause of the melt. It also contains grave warnings of its dangers. The world would be mad to ignore them." The admonition of some environmental group? Hardly. Those lines are taken from the lead editorial in this week's edition of The Economist magazine, one of the most influential publications in the English language, selling nearly 1.5 million copies worldwide each week. As leaders from more than 130 countries gather this week in Rio de Janeiro to grapple with climate woes and other environmental challenges at the United Nations Earth Summit, the London-based Economist published a 14-page cover story entitled "The Vanishing North." The article lays out the extent of the big melt -- a third of the Arctic sea ice has vanished over the past three decades -- and the stakes for the future of the Earth. "Perhaps not since the 19th-century clearance of America's forests has the world seen such a spectacular environmental change," the editorial continues. "The impact of the melting Arctic may have a calamitous effect on the planet." This isn't the opinion of a single writer; it's the collective voice of the editors, summarizing the magazine's news report on the subject. "There is no serious doubt about the basic cause of the warming," the report concludes. "It is, in the Arctic as everywhere, the result of an increase in heat-trapping atmospheric gases, mainly carbon dioxide released when fossil fuels are burned." Read more here

In the last 2 months there have been articles on the following in the media and blogs. Bush fires = Global Warming Glaciers retreating = Global Warming Glaciers increasing = Global Warming CO2 levels increase = Global Warming Ice melting and moving = Global Warming Drought in UK = Global Warming Flooding in Britian = Global Warming Animal populations decreasing = Global Warming Species wiped out = Global Warming Species range changes = Global Warming Earthquakes = Global Warming Increased Typhoons, Hurricanes, or Cyclones = Global Warming Sea Level rises = Global Warming Temprature rises = Global Warming Acidifcation of sea water = Global Warming. Lowest Record tempratures in Russia and Canada = Global Warming Increase in Crown of Thorns Starfish = Global Warming Polar Bears drowning = Global Warming Coral Bleaching = Global Warming Longer growing seasons = Global Warming Fish stocks depleted = Global Warming Increased Methane releases = Global Warming etc, etc, etc.
I would hazard a guess that Mr and Mrs Joe Public are so sick and tired of hearing about the doom and gloom being predicted by cAGW mob that they no longer care.
