ColdFront Meteorological Motor Mouth Registered: 29/06/2008 Posts: 10564 Loc: Cairns	Excellent Dave. I had the pleasure of witnessing several in the Whitsudays over the years. The hilly terrain right on the coast and the islands spawn them in strong sth easterlies (though the strongest one I saw was in a northerly wind feed). I saw twins one year several hundred metres apart and another that was like a long snake twisting back and forth from water to cloud. Another year I was in a yacht race close to shore when a strong one formed not more than 400 mtrs away. Needless to say I was quite concerned at that one . They are a remarkable spectacle. _________________________ Politicians and Nappies should be changed often and for the same reason! Just not with one that's more soiled !! The warmer waters and cooler mids and upper levels create a prime environment for spouts in larger Cu and Cb clouds. Keep your eyes peeled, im sure you'll see more as winter nears Great video btw
