Excellent Dave.

I had the pleasure of witnessing several in the Whitsudays over the years. The hilly terrain right on the coast and the islands spawn them in strong sth easterlies (though the strongest one I saw was in a northerly wind feed). I saw twins one year several hundred metres apart and another that was like a long snake twisting back and forth from water to cloud. Another year I was in a yacht race close to shore when a strong one formed not more than 400 mtrs away. Needless to say I was quite concerned at that one .

They are a remarkable spectacle.

Waterspouts are actually fairly common off the NSW coast, spesh at this time of year. The warmer waters and cooler mids and upper levels create a prime environment for spouts in larger Cu and Cb clouds. Keep your eyes peeled, im sure you'll see more as winter nears smile

Great video btw smile
